Little needs to be said about this collection of LP's in a pseudo box set. It features 3 of my favorite Fogelberg LP's Home Free, Souvenirs and Captured Angel. All 3 Lp's come on individual CD's so you can pick and choose your favorites rather than have to listen all the way through 1 CD. Not remastered so it sounds as great as the day I bought the LP. A wonderful addtion to any collection.

You might spend three or four times the Amazon price to pick up this collection and not be any happier. Many consider this some of Fogelberg's finest work and it certainly is representative of who he was as a performer and songwriter. There is a wide variety of styles across these three albums: country, rock, folky ballads. As always with Fogelberg, the lyrics are uneven, running anywhere from lovely to cringe-worthy, but there are enough gems in there to make listening to the others worthwhile.

Any prospective buyer of Home Free (Dan's first album) should be aware that that album was substantially remixed when it was first released on CD. To the Morning, for example, sounds very different in its remixed version, and I much prefer the original mix.

The original version of the Home Free album has, as far as I know, never been available on CD except as part of a 2006 release by Beat Goes On records (a British record company) that used the original mix when it paired Home Free with Souvenirs as a 2-on-1.

Now we have this 3-in-1 release from Sony. Which version of Home Free is it? That information isn't in the blurb Sony provided to Amazon, and it doesn't appear to be available at Sony's website either. Is anyone surprised that Sony's not telling us? If a book existed in two substantially different versions, I'll bet you'd be surprised if a book company published it without indicating which version of the book it was. But when a record company does the same thing, it doesn't surprise us, does it? Is it a lack of respect for their buyers? Is it a lack of integrity? Maybe some of both.

Thanks, Sony. I was just at Amazon today buying another product, and I would have bought this, too, if it's the original mix of Home Free. So that's at least one sale you may have lost because you can't be bothered to give your prospective buyers basic information about what you're selling them.

This is a great triple CD from Dan's older work. I loved them 20 + years ago on vinyl (which I still have!) and they sound even better now. We love the chance to hear them again.

I hadn't heard these three albums in years though I had each one but had nothing to play them on. I was so happy to see all three here in a triple feature and have enjoyed many hours of traveling pleasure listening to them to and from work and on my lunch break. His music is so timeless it still touches my heart very much and I plan to purchase other CD's of his from you in the future. Thanks and have a great day! :)
