"BOLAN PLAYS HARDBALL WITH A WEST AFRICAN CARTEL", July 10, 2010
This review is from: Triple Reverse (Executioner #278) (Paperback)
Mack Bolan -- Cover Blown
Welcome to The Executioner/Mack Bolan #278 written by Jerry VanCook, a GOLD EAGLE writer who has been actively writing these type of adventure books from 1990 through 2009. His books are always interesting and this book is no different.
The 'West African cartel' mentioned above is the Ivory Coast cartel and this cartel is bringing in big money from narcotics, especially since it is being run by at least one member of the DEA (Norris Wright)! Bolan's job: smash the cartel, kill the people running the cartel. So off to Nigeria (Lagos) goes our man in black, however, for the first portion of the book the big guy has to assume a wimpish posture, it doesn't work as the bad guys see the past knife cuts and bullet wounds and ole Kenneth Clarke (Clark Kent-Superman) bites the dust and Bolan emerges firing Beretta triple-bursts all around. They think they are rich enough to get out alive and retire on their piles of money, they don't even suspect the tiger they have by the tail. With help from Barbara Price, Hal Brognola, "Bear", and the rest of the Stony Man farm team, Bolan always separates the "good guys from the bad".
This tale has been written over-and-over in this series, yet Mr. VanCook brings a fresh manner to the telling. New readers or older ones such as myself will find something here of interest. The book may not have as much combat as some would like but I enjoy less of that sometimes and for fuller character development as offered in this book. Another two-thumbs up GOLD EAGLE read.
Semper Fi.
