My husband commutes about three miles to work on a razor scooter. Eight days ago, in a shady spot, he missed a rather large crack in the pavement and went flying over the handles and landed heavily and painfully on his knee. Now, if he'd been a kid, the injury would have been shortlived, just a bruise and another pair of kneeless jeans, but instead, his knee swelled up and he had to bus it to work for a week while he waited for his knee to heal.

I don't know why neither of us thought about knee pads (and elbow and wrist protection) until after his accident, it seems perfectly obvious now!

Anyways, this set had a great number of excellent reviews and the price was pretty good considering you'd get a full package of protective gear, much less expensive than buying each item individually.

So, his second day out scootering, he hit a slimy patch of pavement, kismet? It was probably a combo of rain, worms (they flock to the sidewalks here, gross, right?) and moss (the pacific northwest is a mossy place) and he went down again, this time with the protective gear in place. His brand new knee pad is a bit scarred and scratched now from the impact but it protected him perfectly! Yahoo!

Same same with the elbow pads. The only complaint he has is about the wrist braces, they are so stiff that it makes it impossible to grip the steering collumn on his scooter, so he's had to leave them off. I bet they'd work great for people who are skating or skateboarding, though since they don't have to use their hands so much.

the knee pads broke the first time i wore them to roller derby practice. the lower velcro strap is in a poor spot so it will easily rip off when falling on your knees. if you get them for mere protection while skating and don't intend on really practicing falling, then they're alright for beginners. Also, i got the large, based on the knee measurement given in the chart but the wrist guards are a bit too big so just be aware that if you thin and measure (at he knee) in the lower range of the "large" you might want to go with the medium.

These are very basic pads, so if you are just using these for casual skating, they should be fine. They are not good enough for roller derby though, you will soon have to upgrade, so you might as well invest in the higher level pads (this brand is fine, or 187s). I bought these when I was just starting out, and had to get new knee pads within a month, as these pads do not stay in place or provide enough protection for the kind of falls you take in derby. I'm now looking into replacing the elbow pads after taking a few falls, and I suspect the wrist guards will be next. Spend a little more and save in the long run.

Received box on two days as promised, properly packed.
Tried the 3 sets and I feel confident they will do the job (protecting covered areas)
Materials used are light, easy to wear,I am 140 lbs and medium built, they fit me well, purchased this items after falling down biking and sustained a painful strain/fracture on my right thumb.
I am 70 y/o and cannot afford broken bones IF I can do something to help prevent it.
I like the way the plastic append-um is placed on the wrist palmar face,it more likely will take the brunt on a fall with my hand extended and more likely will prevent a wrist fracture, notice I use "prevent" not sure anything is 100% secure.also have I had it on in my last fall more "likely"will have prevented my injury.
As for the knees and elbows they are more straightforward on design and anatomical expectations, again more likely will do the job on a fall.
Perhaps on a hard fall any of these may break,so? for less than $ 30.00 if I save an Emergency Room bill (many many hundred dollars) will be more than happy to replace the set.

These pads are worth the money. Putting on the gear is simple and the manufacturing quality is good. Falling on my skates if I push myself a little bit too far is no issue any longer as these pads cushion the blow very well and let me get right back up and at it.

These pads are of relatively good quality, especially for the price. They are easy to take on and off and are light and comfortable while skating. I purchased them for Roller Derby and plan to buy something that offers a bit more protection before any serious competition. A note about sizing: Go a size smaller, as the elastic straps do stretch.

Bought this as a birthday present for my nephew. He hasn't made any complaints about the product and has been able to go to the skate park now that he's protected.
