Book Description

It takes a brave man - one who can move past his own demons - to relentlessly pursue the brutality and evils that threaten the lives of those who cannot help themselves. It takes a hero.

FBI Special Agent Jack Davis is that man. In Davis' world, only liars, drunks, and guilty people shake uncontrollably. But then he joins their ranks.

After 25 years as an FBI Special Agent, Jack is forced to retire because of a mysterious movement disorder that makes him shake, sometimes bending him in half, sometimes strangling his speech. Jack always worked strictly by the book. But these days? Well, those days are over.

Triple Threat - all three books in the Jack Davis Thriller Series together in one neat package of hard-hitting, non-stop thrills and suspense.

Shakedown

The Dead Man

No Way Out

In the first novel, Shakedown, Jack's case sends him on a dark journey steeped in the stench of death and endangering his daughter. Critical information is leaking out of the case. He can't trust anyone as betrayal buries the truth in a deadly web of deception.

In the second novel, The Dead Man, people in a highly specialized neurological research study start to die exactly as they dreamed they would die. Called in to investigate, Davis crosses paths with a serial killer, taking him on both sides of the law and into the path of a murderer's terrifying rage.

Finally, the third novel, No Way Out, takes Davis down into the depths of a lethal web of deceit, years in the making. The only thing that can save Davis and his female charge is time. And time is quickly running out.

"Shakedown is a really fine novel. Joel Goldman has got it locked and loaded and full of the blood of character and the gritty details that make up the truth. Page for page, I loved it." ~Michael Connelly, New York Times Best Selling Author

"A masterful blend of rock-solid detective work and escalating dread. The Dead Man is both a top-notch thriller and a heart-rending story of loss, courage and second chances. I loved it." ~Robert Crais, NYT Bestselling Author

"Goldman spins his latest yarn into a clever, complex tangle of chain reactions between six families of characters whose lives are intertwined by blood, greed, lust, desperation and even love." ~435 South Magazine on No Way Out

"Joel Goldman is the real deal!" ~John Lescroart, Bestselling author of the Dismas Hardy Thriller Series

5.0 out of 5 stars great jack davis mysteries June 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Read all three at once. COuldn't put it down. It was thrilling and sad and beautiful and full of twists and turns. I liked the way they made him really human with his daughter and then his ex-wife when she got sick. I liked the dogs too. If you want a good mystery with a lot of heart and soul this is a series to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars How did I not know about Joel Goldman? July 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have only just become a fan of Joel Goldman- and can't believe I hadn't heard of him or his books until recently.
I am now a BIG fan. I love the Jack Davis character and the plot lines are the equal of any of the better known novelists of this genre like John Grisham or David Baldacci.
This 3 book compilation is great as it enables you to read more of Jack Davis- which you will want to do after you've read the first!
Highly recommended.

I am not a book critic, just an avid reader of mystery and crime novels that are well written. I have no patience with dialogue that is meaningless or clever shifts in continuity. I read for sheer enjoyment and I am in the moment. Joel Goldman keeps there and keeps me coming back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Triple Threat Hat Trick October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Not quite through the 3rd book of the trilogy yet but there is a smooth flow that connects all of the stories and you could read them independently if you wanted. But then you would just end up wanting to read the other two anyway, like I did, so you might as well buy the omnibus and save a little money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Triple Threat Good Story Line April 3, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While I liked the book this one like many other low priced Amazon books the editing was poor with a lot of incorrect words, context errors and misspellings. I found this distracting. If someone is going to put their name on any product I would think accuracy and quality would be a primary concern.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme value June 8, 2013
By MEG
Format:Kindle Edition
I found this trilogy to be better than I anticipated. Meeting Jack Davis in the first book also introduces you to his pain and suffering. It makes him very human and I found myself rooting for him to find inner peace...or as much as one can after losing a child. By the end of book three I can only hope that he has. A suggested read to anyone who likes crime mystery with a touch of humanity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good police stories. May 30, 2013

I wasn't sure i was going to like it but I got very involved in Jack Davis's world. I felt bad for him and all he went through but he fought his way back to some kind of normal existence and that is always a good thing.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay April 2, 2013

Good stories but the constant reference to his movement disorder were distracting and took away from the book. Not sure I would buy another of his books.

More About the Author

Joel Goldman writes crime thrillers to die for. He's the Edgar and Shamus nominated author of three riveting thriller series.

Trial lawyer Lou Mason is a powerful, sexy man, more than six feet of hard muscle and once a keen rugby player. He's loyal and principled, both to a fault. His wry, sarcastic sense of humor and knack for top class banter are disarming, sometimes obscuring a recklessly brave spirit. Passionate about justice, he dives into the dark water, taking on cases others lawyers would run away from.

In Jack Davis' world only liars, drunks and guilty people shake uncontrollably. Then he joins their ranks. After 25 years as an FBI Special Agent, Jack is forced to retire because a mysterious movement disorder that makes him shake, sometimes bending him in half, sometimes strangling his speech. The cause and cure are unknown and Jack's condition colors his entire life. So much so that it ends his FBI career. In his new guise of part time private detective, he can't predict when the shakes will start... he just knows they will. Most of the time he just hopes he isn't holding a gun when it happens because crooks and killers don't give anyone a break.

Alex Stone is a Public Defender, devoted to representing people charged with a crime who can't afford a lawyer. More often than not, her clients and cases are lost causes. But the dismal odds only encourage her. Long, lean, and ropy from years of early-morning workouts, she knows only one way to live and one way to try a case: bear down and go all out.
She's determined to give her indigent clients the same measure of justice the rich and well bred receive. That's what everyone, guilty or innocent, highborn or low, deserves, and that's why she became a public defender. That higher calling matters more than whether her clients are guilty or innocent. But when the system fails to deliver justice, she makes certain justice is done.

If you like heroes you can care about, believe in and root for, you'll love Lou Mason, Jack Davis and Alex Stone. If you like crime thrillers with riveting suspense, jaw dropping twists and page-turning action, you'll love Joel Goldman's novels.
