Top Notch Speed Reading Method,
By Rodney Scow (Utah, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
I have taken several speed reading courses with a variety of styles, or methods. This method identifies common slow-reading problems and presents easily applied techniques to overcome them. I did triple my reading speed in just 3 weeks and can now see the possiblity of doing that again and again. If you are interested in increasing your speed and are willing to spend a few minutes a day working at it, the information in this book will pay dividends you never thought possible. I strongly recommend it.

The best book I've seen on speed reading,
By A Customer
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
I've gone through several books and programs for speed reading and they were usually very gimicky and didn't work. This book on the other hand was extremely helpful; it kept the speed reading goals at an obtainable level and contained many very helpful exercises to help you train your peripheral vision in order to read faster. Everything in the book is explained clearly and everything is very concise; many other programs are ninety percent transendental b.s. This reasonable sized book is all you need.

lacks detailed instruction,
By A Customer
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
It is great that this book does not bluff claiming to make your reading speed 100 times faster or more. Although the premise (Tripling your reading speed by decreasing eye fixation) is not overstatement, I found this book lacking detailed instruction. The author claims expanding your vision so that you can read more by one eye fixation. But he fails to tell us how to practice for that goal. The book only instructs us to use a chart that look likeA BBD F and read the outermost letters while fixing your eye to the center ones.

If you work, this book works.,

I was very skeptical about the possibility of a speed reading book actually working. I only even gave this book a chance because bieng able to speed read was worth the possible waste of time on the book (and because I could borrow it for free from my local library). After reading much of the book, I decided it was the real thing (unlike the many others I had tried), and I decided to buy my own copy. I'm now buying a copy to send to a friend. You do have to do the drills in this book over and over; but if you're willing to put in the time, this book will give you the results.

A crash course in speed reading,
By
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
Overall this book helped me. I picked up the main idea the author was trying to convey early on, and I was able to finish this 200 page book in under an hour. The main idea that this book tries to teach the reader is that one can increase their reading speed by controlling their eye movements. That is, to gather information faster physically without doing as much eye work. The author uses the analogy of the eyes being like a "camera". Almost the entire book is about this concept. There are many drills to help one better their eye movement. The author also gave some other tips, such as "previewing" each chapter before you read it. There were two things that I did not like about the book. The author has the reader take several tests to measure current reading speed. I guess it is necessary, but I did not enjoy this part of this book since it was tedious and time consuming. Also the drills are a bit excessive for my taste. But I am a person that really dislikes self-tests and over-practicing. Overall I thought this book was pretty good and simple to understand. I have never explored the topic of speed reading before until I saw this book, so I have nothing to compare it to. I did, however pay less than $15 dollars to tripple my reading speed, and I think that was a very sound investment.

It does not tell you the magic solution.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
If you are buying this book hoping for a certain magic solution to improve your reading speed instantly, you are wrong. It basically tells you how to train (I mean physically) your eyes to read in blocks. You need to practice, practice and practice as the author says.

Excellent results fast,
By esaggese@impsat1.com.ar (Argentina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
I already read Evelynn Wood's and some other books on the subject, but my improvement wasn't very big with them. Most methods seemed impractical and the books where mostly praising of the benefits of being a fast reader. The methods described in this book gave much better results, and my speed seems to keep improving with time. This is the real thing.

Excellent book!,

I've tried the hand-scanning methods, and I really don't like them. This method is more of a 'leap-of-faith.' You have to practice the exercises faithfully. The weird thing is that I didn't notice my reading speed had changed significantly at first. It's a little slower than using the hand-scanning method at first, but offers more long-range benefits. For example, not only can I read faster, but I can do things like scan a store shelf faster and I notice more details in my peripheral vision. This is my favorite book on speed reading - and now my only one. I keep it now to revisit the practice exercises from time to time. Definitely worth it for the "big picture" results.

It's a home-schooler's dream come true.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
I home school my three children: Dan (11), Sue (13) and David (15). I bought copies for each of them and one for myself. They all increased reading speeds beyone what I expected, and to my pleasant surprise I am reading four times faster--just from teaching them. All their grades improved because they use the book's how-to information about taking tests, studying, etc.

drills are the thesis,
By A Customer
This review is from: Triple Your Reading Speed (Paperback)
After reading about five books on speed reading, I realized nothing was magic. I needed training. That is what this book concentrates on. It is an excellent training aid. But you only get out what you put in. Excellent drills to increase your speed reading skills.
