Do you need a clean, quiet, reliable power source for automotive, remote site, industrial, commercial or residential applications? Tripp Lite's APS1250 Inverter/Charger is the solution you seek! This DC-to-AC inverter/charger powers the equipment you commonly use at home or work—power tools, pumps, portable lighting, notebook computers and more. It's the ideal power solution for RVs, commercial and fleet vehicles, emergency vehicles, construction sites, remote worksites and any other application that requires a clean, quiet AC power source. The APS1250 efficiently converts DC (battery) power into 120V AC (household) power to run any type of equipment, from power tools to computers. Unlike portable generators, the APS1250 requires no fuel and produces no noise or fumes. The APS1250 also features automatic line-to-battery transfer and an integrated battery charging system for UPS (uninterruptible power supply) applications where an AC power source is present. In UPS mode, the APS1250 powers connected equipment while keeping connected batteries fully charged. If AC power becomes unavailable, the APS1250 automatically switches to battery power. With its 1250-watt capacity, this inverter/charger can handle heavy-duty loads like drills, saws and pumps with ease. The APS1250 also features OverPower™ and DoubleBoost™ capability, providing extra power when required for heavy loads and power-hungry equipment start-ups.

The APS1250 efficiently converts DC power from a vehicle battery into 120V AC power for any type of equipment, from heavy-duty drills, saws and pumps to computers and sensitive monitoring equipment. The APS1250 provides safe, stable, AC output power to help connected equipment perform at its peak. A frequency control feature ensures that devices dependent on tightly regulated AC line frequency, such as computers, VCRs and DVD/CD players, receive clean computer-grade power.
Many tools, appliances and printers require extra power for start-up. Others, such as refrigerators and pumps, have fluctuating power demands. When operating in inverter mode, the APS1250 accommodates these peak surge demands by providing up to 200% more output power than its continuous rating of 1250 watts. In OverPower mode, the APS1250 can deliver 1875 watts for up to an hour, providing ample reserve power to keep tools and equipment running longer. In DoubleBoost mode, it can deliver 2500 watts for up to 10 seconds to support power-hungry equipment start-ups and motor cycling requirements. When connected to an AC power source, the APS1250 can provide up to 1440 watts continuous power.
When the APS1250 is connected to an AC power source, power is passed through to connected equipment and the battery set is charged via a three-stage, 20-amp charging system with adjustable settings for wet/gel battery types. In the event of a power failure or severe voltage fluctuation, the APS1250 responds with a near-instantaneous (16.6 millisecond) automatic transfer to battery power. Any number of user-supplied batteries may be connected to the APS1250 to provide extended battery backup support for critical equipment. A three-position switch enables you to select AUTO mode for automatic transfer between utility and battery power, CHARGE-ONLY mode to maintain a full battery charge with no automatic transfer switching when the APS1250 is connected to AC power or SYSTEM OFF mode.
The APS1250 features six front-panel diagnostic LEDs to indicate load level (high, medium and low), battery charge (high, medium and low), shutdown status and system fault status.
To prevent damage to the inverter and connected equipment, the APS1250 will shut down automatically if an overload is detected at the AC output connection. The red Load Level Indicator LED will flash to alert you that an overload has occurred. Additional overload protection is provided by an 8-amp AC input circuit breaker, a 12-amp AC output circuit breaker, and a built-in multi-speed cooling fan.
The APS1250 features a rugged, moisture-resistant polycarbonate housing that withstands vibration, impact and high-humidity environments—ideal for use at remote worksites, in trucks, RVs and other vehicles, on boats or anywhere that reliable AC power is needed.
The APS1250 features integral mounting slots for permanent installation on any rigid, horizontal surface, such as the bed of a pickup truck. Connecting the APS1250 to your battery system is quick and easy with readily available user-supplied cables. A grounding lug on the side of the unit connects the inverter/charger to earth ground or vehicle grounding system. AC power is provided to connected equipment via two standard 5-15R receptacles on the front of the unit. When used as a UPS system, the APS1250 connects to utility power via a standard 5-15P plug. Four configuration dip switches support wet/gel battery charging profiles, adjustable 135/145V high voltage auto transfer during overvoltages, and selectable 75/85/95/105V AC low voltage auto transfer during brownouts.
The APS1250 is equipped with an RJ45 port for connection of an optional Remote Control LED/Switch Module (Tripp Lite model APSRM4), enabling you to control and monitor the inverter/charger from virtually anywhere within a vehicle.
The APS1250 comes with a 1-year product warranty and a rapid-response repair/replacement policy that's unmatched in the industry.
Tripp Lite manufactures a full line of power and connectivity solutions—UPS systems, power distribution units, surge suppressors, cables and connectivity solutions, rack enclosures and more—for every application, from the desktop to the datacenter.

Good replacement for old APC Smart UPSes,

This review is from: Tripp Lite APS1250 1250W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 30-Amp Charger (Electronics)
I used to be a big APC fan, but over the years I have had all kinds of problems with them not behaving well after a battery change. They don't even like the batteries purchased from APC.I wanted something to use with my computers that did not require specific batteries.Tripp Lite APS1250 1250W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 30-Amp Charger This product worked out great because I just picked up a couple of Marine Deep Cycle Wet batteries (approx $60 ea) used some cables I had around (#2 Battery cables from auto parts store work great) Just get short ones with two eyes for the connections between batteries (wingnut on bolt connections on most deep cycles) and one longer one to cut in 1/2 and use for both connections to the APS. The APS takes a 5.5mm allen wrench to tighten the connections, I had to cut the plastic around the outlets a little to get my power strip to plug in directly. A large (8D) battery box will hold up to 3 size 24 batteries, so I am going to pick up one of those this week. This unit does not have the B series of DIP switches. This unit also initially charged the batteries at 50A and then dropped down as they took a surface charge. The transfer to UPS is seamless when unplugging from the wall for testing. No flicker or anything on any of the computers. I am running two computers (+LCDS, Drives, etc) one with a 1000W DA1000 SilverStone DA1000 1000W ATX 12V 2.2 and EPS 12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Retailthe other with a really old 350W supply. I also have 5 SATA drives in the desktop. The desktop really only drew 25A on a bootup on battery which = 300W, the constant draw on the batteries with both systems in active mode is 24A - The load also includes UVerse box, 8 port switch, two external drives, usb hub, phones, etc. Am very pleased to retire my SU1000, my SU700R, and my SU420NET upses as well as the various BK500s in my office for this one, much more efficient unit. When I do some AC testing for how the unit performs from a generator, I will add to my review.

Failed in just over a year.,
This review is from: Tripp Lite APS1250 1250W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 30-Amp Charger (Electronics)
I bought one of these to provide uninterrupted power to my computer, internet and a NAS. The device failed less than two months after the 1 year warranty had expired. It no longer charges my batteries and says it's over loaded, even when nothing is plugged in. I now have a 400 dollar boat anchor, not to mention another 400 worth of batteries, cables and the trip-lite remote switch that I bought to go with it.

This review is from: Tripp Lite APS1250 1250W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 30-Amp Charger (Electronics)
This Tripp Lite 1200 watt inverter/30 watt converter combo is working perfectly. It provides power to the RV entertainment center up to 5 hours a day. It is connected to a12 volt, 220 amp hr battery. The maximum power drawn is 350 watts in this service so this unit is not working hard, but it certainly works well. The converter is in parallel with a 5 amp solar charger and there has been no problems with this connection.
