5.0 out of 5 stars Great long run time UPS for your office or home
We have three of these running as UPS for extended long run. They work great. With a 100AmpH deep cycle battery, it can run three servers for 5 hours. The built-in three stage charger with battery and charge indicators show the status of the battery and inveter. Many adjustment dip switch to select different battery or switching voltage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Trip Lite Inverter
It works like they say it supposed to.
It is a bit loud with the humm.
After a month of use, my inverter, starts to "lurch" with the power, and kicks the normal power off for just a second. Not sure what is happening, but it is an inconvenience.
when on battery power, things work great.
The humming is always there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great long run time UPS for your office or home, November 13, 2006
This review is from: Tripp Lite APS2012 2000W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 100/25-Amp Charger (Electronics)

When AC lost, it will automatically switch to battery power in about 5 ms, so that computers have no downtime.

The only problem with them is that the float charge phase is always on. When power outage is not that frequent, it could cause battery being overcharged. I had contacted factory to see if we can turn that float charge off or off after certain hours to avoid the battery overcharge. But they told me there is no modification allowed. The result of that is the battery dying in about 18 month to two years.

Still, that is a much better solution than those regular UPS, since the battery in resular UPS can only last 15 minutes. During summer, when we have the rolling black, which lasts about two hours each time, we don't have to shutdown our computers due to power outage.

This product is all it was advertised to be. I am most pleased with the ability to monitor the battery charge level and the status of the powerverter. It's UPS qualities are also a plus.

3.0 out of 5 stars trip the light - maybe not so fantastic, October 26, 2011
This review is from: Tripp Lite APS2012 2000W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 100/25-Amp Charger (Electronics)
Ordered the Tripp Lite APS 2012 to replace 11 year old Exide 2000 inv.charger which got fried with lightning strike.
I was amazed that 2011 technology didn't have a better appearance (yes I saw it online but was still hopeful). Unit is also heavier than the Exide.
The connections leave something to be desired. Accepts only #2 wire for DC input (Ok if close to battery(s); #10 for AC; really too small for long runs.
And. the available adjustments for system control are limited.
The first unit arrived & didn't work properly. Took several calls & explanations to get replacement; + out of pocket shipping back to OEM; but so far it's up and running.
Time will tell.

I purchased two of these, only one still works, ever worked actually. It does admirably my whole cabin runs off a single 2000w tripplite. Now we will see how the customer service is.

I am using this unit along with an Odyssey PC2150S heavy duty commercial battery for powering an Edwards-18 rough vacuum pump, to protect upstream turbo pumps in event of power failure. A few minutes of the rough pump working allow the turbo pumps to gradually spin down.

I first tried to use a fairly powerful computer-style UPS, but it could not handle the load. The Tripp Lite APS2012, on the other hand, works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice for an expandable UPS system, July 17, 2011

This review is from: Tripp Lite APS2012 2000W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 100/25-Amp Charger (Electronics)
When I added two new servers to my server rack, I was faced with the choice of adding a new fixed capacity UPS for the new servers or replace my older inadequate UPS system with something more capable and expandable. I purchased the Tripp Lite APS750 750W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 20-Amp Charger back in 2010 for use in my camper and have been very pleased with its quality and performance so I decided to purchase it's bigger cousin, the APS2012 2000W inverter for my server room.

Along with the APS2012 2000W, I purchased two Optima Batteries 8052-161 D31M BlueTop Dual Purpose Batterys to string in parallel. Running #2/0 cables between batteries and to the inverter with a Go Power! FBL-300 300 Amp Fuse Class T with Block in-line fuse, I now have the perfect expandable UPS system.

In testing, I found the above combination of two batteries in parallel with the APS2012 2000W, I can power my four servers, routers, switches, and digital phone system for up to 2 and a half to three hours in a power failure. To increase the run time, I need only to add additional batteries. For now, this configuration works very well for my needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tripp-lite APS2012 Power Inverter/Charger, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Tripp Lite APS2012 2000W 12V DC to AC Inverter with Automatic Line-to-Battery 100/25-Amp Charger (Electronics)
This unit appears to be built with a lot of quality. It has performed well so far but has not been tested during an actual power outage. My setup includes the Inverter/Charger and two 12 volt marine deep cycle batteries connected in parallel. I am powering a 5.0 amp sump pump. The unit will power the sump pump without any problems.
