Tripp-Lite TRIPS-A-LOT,
By
This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
Worked okay for about 3 months, and then started shutting itself down, with no warning, no beeping, nothing. Just shuts down. Starts right back up when you press the ON button, but will shut down again in a day, or in a week, or in two weeks, no rhyme or reason, just whenever it feels like it. Need an UPS for this UPS!!

This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
The power supply is very well built. It has no noise and a lot of useful outlets. The problems i have are with the software and help with software problems. The software is not exactly user friendly as you can't change the settings once they're set. Reinstall only made matters worse. Can't seem to get any help from manufacturer about the software. Would be 5 star if i could resolve software issues. Had to disable the main reason i got it; to protect the computer while i am at work. Still will be useful when i am home. Next power outage won't crash the computer as i'll be able to turn it off with UPS providing the power. Avr 750VA US120V Line-int 8OUTLET 5-15R Tel USB 750 Va needs an improved software to be a great product! If you need just a basic UPS then look at another product as this one is overpriced for what you end up with.

Another randomly shutting off AVR750 :(,
This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
I have been a big Tripp Lite fan in the past. I decided to buy this to replace an old APC which lasted 3+ dependable years on the original battery.
In the last 19 months, I have walked in to my computer room to see my computer completely shut off and would not power on. I had to crawl under my computer desk to press and hold the on button. I thought UPS units are for preventing power failures, NOT providing it's own power failure. My battery has now failed in less than 2 years and still under warranty. After reading other reviews...I would NEVER get it replaced. Computers are too expensive to be killed by a UPS shutting down all the time. Do yourself a favor...read other reviews on this unit. Sorry Tripp Lite. I just bought an APC. I feel a big weight lifted off my shoulders.

Randomly Shuts Down for No Reason (as pointed out by other reviewers),
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
Bought this unit and within a year, it was randomly shutting down for no reason. Contacted Tripp-Lite, and as it was still under warranty, they shipped me a new one. Within a month the new unit started to spontaneously shut down with no warning. Now, when it shuts down, there is NO POWER being sent as backup, so this product fails to do what it's designed to do. Even if it has a design flaw (which I seriously think it does), and it shuts itself down, it should still provide batter backup during those times. If you think this would be the case, you would be wrong!
Stay away from this product. Stay away from this product. I'd say it a 3rd time, but you get the point!

shut down problem as well,
This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
Not only do I have the same problem with 5 of my Tripp Lites, I suspect damage to computers as well. I have had 3 dells die suddenly, all when the Tripp Lite shuts itself down for no reason. One Dell just died after only 3 days of use.

Terrible, buy an Ultra 2000VA UPS,

This item is terrible. The problem is that it constantly monitors the quality of the incoming 120V line. If that 120V outlet in anything less than absolutely perfect this awful gadget starts beeping endlessly and stops working. So every time my neighbor opens his garage door and the voltage of my 120V outlet drops a fraction for a second this piece of junk starts beeping endlessly as if it were the end of the world. I wanted a simple battery to power my PC for a few minutes when the power fails, not a complicated idea. This thing instead monitors my homes 120V system and beeps loudly and constantly any time there is the slightest variation. I did not buy a gadget to monitor my homes electrical system, I wanted a battery to power my PC in case of power failures. Totally useless. Does not do what it is supposed to do. $30 in shipping to return due to weight. I didnt even try the software.

Random Shutdowns, a handy feature in a UPS,
This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
I bought this product from another vendor 5 months ago. It will now shut down at random times throughout the day. No warning, no errors.. just shut off. The battery tests all pass and I work at the power company so Im sure we have solid utility service :) I will never purchase another Tripp Lite product, we are an APC shop for life now.

Dropped critical load,

This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
I had the same experience as the majority of other reviewers here - the UPS shut itself down for no apparent reason. The battery appears to be healthy, there is no overload, and no power spikes occurred. In any case, a properly engineered UPS would never drop protected equipment when utility power is present. This is a piece of junk that caused the very problem it is supposed to prevent.

Wow. I've had this unit a little under 2 years, and came on here (and other sites) to see if anyone else had this problem. They do, in spades. The thing just shuts down totally, seemingly at random. Other times it trips and beeps incessantly like the power is out, yet the table lamp plugged into the same duplex outlet is still on. Other times it trips for a second, comes back, trips again... repeat.
Never had this issue with my APC. Which incidentally is NOW on the same branch circuit and doesn't trip while the Tripp Lite still does. I always liked Tripp-Lite surge protectors but this UPS is a pain in the ___ .

Shuts down,
This review is from: Tripp Lite AVR750U AVR 750VA Compact Line-Interactive UPS (12 Outlets) (Electronics)
I've had the same problem as everyone in these reviews.
Have had this for a little under 2 years. I was working one day and it shut down with no warning, killing instantly my computer. According to the Self test I need to replace the battery. Changing the battery after 2 years is simply ridiculous. Even if I ignored that fact, it's simply unacceptable that the damn thing turns off just because the battery is faulty. I had to remove everything from the battery protected connections in order to prevent any damage on my electronic devices while I look for a new UPS. I've had no problems for the past two years but after it killed my computer because of it's shut downs thanks to the faulty battery I would never recommend this to anyone. |
