4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good
I use this in my home network mainly for providing temporary power support to the modem and router during power shortage. Due to some special situations, although I've got this for only 2 months it already went through several challenges and so far it works fine. Saves me lots of time re-setting my modem & router which I had to do everytime after a power shortage before I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible piece of junk
Our company bought over 100+ of these to use as cheap stopgap protection for when we fail over to generator testing which lasts all of 3 to 4 seconds each month. So far over 50% of these have failed in less than eight months. The warranty requires you to pay to send it back to them to "determine" if it's their problem. Saves me lots of time re-setting my modem & router which I had to do everytime after a power shortage before I got this UPS. I only wish they can increase the space between each plug becuase I can only fit 2 those "big-head" adapter plugs into it and the 3rd one was wasted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little UPS, May 8, 2009

This unit is reasonable small, so it fits well in the space I had. Don't plug any big loads into it, it won't last long. It's only 350VA, so take that into account. It's fine for my needs, but make sure you know your loads.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable Product, October 28, 2010
This review is from: Tripp Lite BC350 BC Personal 350VA Compact UPS (6 Outlets) (Electronics)
It is a good price, but the unit will only last about two months. We have bought over thirty in the last year and most of them are now being replaced with other units. They have been huge wastes of money!

2.0 out of 5 stars Shame on me..., January 17, 2010

It was the cheapest unit of this capacity that i was willing to try. (Student = budget is tight...) I bought it for my modem and router.

Seem to work fine when power drops, but don't know how long it will keep the loads going.

When i bought it, i neglected to note that it doesn't have a user-replaceable battery, or a computer data link. In this day and age, i just expected it to have both, as units $15 more expensive have... So, the battery setup is just environmentally irresponsible. And the lack of a data link means it's only good for short power outages, if used to power a computer. Otherwise, at this VA capacity, it will just allow the computer to crash 5-10 minutes later than without power backup...

SO, shame on me for buying this unit, and on Tripp-Lite for putting its fine name on it... I just didn't have any spare money for something better...

The 1st unit was put to the test only weeks after it arrived when our power went out, well so did my computer, the backup failed. I had to sent it back and order another one from Amazon. This unit to failed in this weeks power outage. Like so many other reviews here this item is a piece of junk. This brand used to be a reliable product, but no longer. Plus it costs more to send it back for warranty than the unit is worth. Please examine other brands.

We purchased several of these for the school district I work for. We have only one personal computer hooked up to each of these UPS's. A number of them have failed throughout the district after only a year of use. I would suggest a different UPS as these seem to have a very high failure rate from what I have seen.

Have it for 9 months. Had numerous blackouts. Works great. Only has capacity for around 15-30min of battery power, so don't expect more. But that's enough time to save data. Does the job.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sir beeps a lot, October 19, 2010

This review is from: Tripp Lite BC350 BC Personal 350VA Compact UPS (6 Outlets) (Electronics)
I had the unit plugged in just 15 minutes when we got a 2 hour power fail.

As soon as the power went out, it began generating a very loud and annoying beeping every 4 seconds. Looking at the manual, there does not seem to be any way to disable it - this is a feature. I guess that folks who build UPS systems think the power going out is a big deal.

I violated the warranty (and safety warnings) and cut the run to LS1 - problem solved. Not something for the uninitiated, there's no way to disable the battery until you've disconnected it, and getting the housing back together was very tricky.

But unless you're comfortable with design modifications or keep the unit in an unoccupied location, look elsewhere.

By the way, with only 15 minutes of charging out of the box, it did the job. I've recently installed 6 Panasonic DECT 6.0 Plus portable phones, and the Tripp Lite is holding up the base station. I know this seems like overkill but we get massive power outages on a regular basis and I wanted something to match the advertised 8 hour backup for our Fios phone system.

4.0 out of 5 stars Protection at a low cost, September 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tripp Lite BC350 BC Personal 350VA Compact UPS (6 Outlets) (Electronics)
Even though you dont get phone or cable protection, I feel this is a wise investment. I live in an area where ther are intermittent power outtages. I really hate losing my work do to a power loss. This was a good investment to protect my work at a lower cost than most UPS's. It came fully charged and ready to install without the charging time. I would recommend this to anyone with a SOHO.
