I have an office in an area where the power goes off (usually briefly) every once in a while... My computers have their own UPS's but, the cable modem, router, ethernet hub, etc, all resets everytime. This powers them for longer than my computers' UPS will keep them going. And, I think it offers protection against the surge that happens when the juice comes back on.

All in all, I'm glad I got it.

Just a quick review 1.) I purchased the item as a backup for a laptop and two external drives; no heavy duty use there. 2.) I bought it on 7/19/10 on 8/28/10 the red replace battery light/overload came on and the unit shut down not only the battery backup but the surge only outlets; so I unplugged it and rebooted it came back to life. 3.) On 9/28/10 the red light came on and the unit shut down and will not start (for more than a second). 3.) I said well bad unit so I went to return it and was informed that my return time expired on 9/6/10 however I could return it for a partial refund if it qualifies, and as far as I can read it does not. 4.) I looked on the back and it says that there are no serviceable parts on the unit although it does say it has a battery but do not open the case. 4.) Confused me too I guess you get what you pay for but less than 60 days is that fair? 5.) I should have bought it a BB or $taples where they would be happy to take it back. 6.) I have 8 other units from APC and Cyber Power and no issues other than replace a battery now and then, this is not your father's Oldsmobile or maybe it is the unit is dead like Olds. Hope this helps

When the power went out for really long periods of time on previous units, those units would drain the battery until it was dead. When the battery goes dead it will no longer recharge properly. Hopefully that won't happen with this unit.

I've had the UPS for about a month now and I get a short (under 5 minute) power outages every few days. I haven't had a really long outages yet. I use this UPS to battery backup my Monitor, Computer Tower, and Router.

This is a terrible product. The point of a UPS system is to prevent power inturruptions, but this UPS cuts power for no reason when you least expect it!

Item arrived quickly and I charged it. But it dies pretty much instaneously when power goes out/unplugged. 4 months now and no change. This battery will not work as a desktop backup. I don't know what volt/amp I need etc., but twelve minutes is definately not possible. I wish I had returned it, but I kept holding out hope.

The funny thing is we use Tripp lite batterys at work in our C.O.W.'s (computer on wheels) and they work great. But this one just isn't up to snuff. Also Battery only has 3 plugs that are actually for items.

Just spend a little more and get a bigger, better battery, this is a overpriced power strip.

Edit: looking at other reveiws, my overload/red lite came on the first day I had it. And I have never had it power anything for more than a second. Sounds like I got a dud, should have read the reveiws on this before...

This is the perfect UPS for my application! It has good reliability and provides the necessary backup that is needed for my application!!

The current rating of the battery backup side of this unit is 1.5 amps... suitable for only the smallest of desktop systems, for only a short period, and nothing else, probably not even an external drive. They don't advertise that in the published specs. When the battery goes bad, those outlets won't even come on (unlike most UPS systems). Have experienced the same trouble as others --- unit shuts off every hour or so, both surge and battery back-up sides, with much less than 1 amp of load. Tripp Lite makes some great products. This isn't one of them.

Gave me about 15 minutes battery-run time, and had more to give when I tested. My system only draws 1.4 amps maximum.

Got this to back up my cable modem, router and internet phone when the power goes out so I still have phone service. Power draw for a modem, router and phone base is minimal, so I expect the battery back up to last about 45 minutes to an hour based on Tripplite's runtime chart. Small footprint doesn't take up a lot of space. Just plug in your devices and turn it on.

One thing, all 6 outlets are surge protected, but only 3 of the 6 outlets are battery backed up. That's OK for me because I only had 3 devices that needed to be backed up.

This item came very quickly and packaged really nice. I have had several power outages when my breakers blew and I did not lose my computer or internet connection. I could not be more pleased. Best investment ever.
