I get a lot of very brief power outages. The electricity goes off for about a half second, but then comes right back on - just long enough to make my PC reboot. That's the primary reason why I bought the Internet 350.

2.0 out of 5 stars QC for the product leaves much to be desired.
Bought 18 of these as part of a large Dell order. Over half of the units are so sensitive to mechanical movement that they will shut themselves off with no warning. Just plugging in an unconnected power cord (i.e. - no load) or the USB cable will cause those particular units to shut off. (Not all of the 18 have this problem.) The USB connection to the WinXP based...

I get a lot of very brief power outages. The electricity goes off for about a half second, but then comes right back on - just long enough to make my PC reboot. That's the primary reason why I bought the Internet 350.

In the two plus years that I've owned the unit, I've had many of these "mini-failures". Each time, the Tripp-Lite has performed flawlessly, filling the gap in power so that my PC never knows that anything has happened. I've also had several more serious power outages that lasted several minutes or hours. The Internet 350 gave me more than enough time to save my data, shut down the applications I was running and power down my equipment in an orderly fashion.

In addition to this 350VA unit, I also have Tripp-Lite's 525VA UPS. Between the two, I can provide power for 3 PCs, 2 CRT Monitors, a Cable Modem and a Router. I'm not looking for extended power coverage - I'm not running any kind of critical systems. I just want something that will take care of the power "blinks" and let me shut things down normally in the event of a longer outage. In this regard, I find the Tripp-Lites completely satisfactory.

The 350VA unit has a total of 6 AC outlets - 3 for surge protection only and 3 for surge protection and power backup. One of each set of 3 outlets is spaced to accomodate a transformer block without interfering with the other outlets. There are also telephone jacks so that you can surge protect your telephone modem line. LEDs give you the unit's status and it beeps when you're on battery backup.

I'm completely satisfied with my Tripp-Lite Internet Office 350 UPS and can recommend it without hesitation.

Bought 18 of these as part of a large Dell order. Over half of the units are so sensitive to mechanical movement that they will shut themselves off with no warning. Just plugging in an unconnected power cord (i.e. - no load) or the USB cable will cause those particular units to shut off. (Not all of the 18 have this problem.) The USB connection to the WinXP based "power options" tab automatically gives you a "running on batteries" option for graceful shutdown (I suppose) before the batteries run out. Nice.

I'm extremely disappointed with the quality control (or bad design) of this unit. We have called Tripp Lite warranty folks, and supposedly we'll get new (or replacement ) units with no questions asked (other than S/N of the unit and date of purchase). I hope the replacements don't have this problem too.

We might have gotten a bad batch, but until they get their QC problems ironed out, I would stay away from this unit.

it works pretty well. we had a long lasting outage about a month ago and it actually maintained power for the idle products connected to it for several hours. once something that needed to be used was plugged in, the power drained very quickly. on the negative side, it has the classic mind numbing UPS beep when it's using back up power. It drove me so nuts that I had to turn it off because it's also very loud. It also omits a plastic/burning smell from time to time which always makes me a bit nervous.

I bought this ups as a back up for my computer and monitor. I cut the power off and it gave me at least five mintes of power before it shut down so I'll have enough power to save my work and shut down. This is the perfect unit at a reasonable price. Thankfully I haven't had to test the power suge protection yet.

It's inexpensive, hasn't caught fire, and has protected our equipment so far. Sometimes turning a space heater on or off will cause my television to blank out for a second. Both are plugged in to the UPS.
