Update: YOU CAN STOP THE BEEPING!,

There's very little that needs explaining with this, really. Read the item description -- it does all of that, and it does it flawlessly in my experience. I've had absolutely no trouble using the thing, and the few power outages I've experienced were handled perfectly. (Even the one time it was accidentally unplugged.) The battery lasts my computer and monitor about 20 minutes. The only small caveat I've noticed is that turning the power on or off causes the device to beep loudly. There may be a way to turn this off, but I've not found one, and it can be a bit of a pain when I'm trying to turn it off late at night! Of course, you really only need to turn it off if you're the type to unplug your computer at night (like me), so it may not be an issue for you. UPDATE: I've learned after a bit of playing that YOU CAN TURN OFF THE ANNOYING BEEPING NOISE! Use the included strange USB thing to hook it up to your computer, then use the free PowerAlert software from Tripp Lite's website. Switch the software into Business mode, then go over to the Action section. In the list of actions is "Set Audible Alarm". Set the value to 1 (even if it's already 1, overwrite it), then execute the command. After a second or two, the program will unfreeze, and it will be completely silent when it loses power from then on!

Great for routers,

I bought this to use with my Verizon FIOS router as the router is not protected from power issues. This unit is small and works well replacing a bulkier APC unit that failed on me. I suggest this for all home routers. I have a lot of experience with Battery Backups, both at home (I have them on every TV and computer) and previously as a IT Network Manager and would recommend this to everyone. The size and capacity are perfect for a router. Trust me on this one, getting one of these for a router will really save you headaches in the long run. I went with Tripp Lite as they have been around for a very long time, and to me, the lower priced APC units jut don't cut it anymore for me. AMAZON was the best deal for this compact ups when you consider shipping costs. I used Super Saving shipping and it shipped for free - the final price you pay is what matters. And I received it quite fast. No complaints. I bought it directly form AMAZON (as the seller) , it came fast, I installed it, and it is working fine.

I live in an area that isn't that old and all the power is underground. So, you'd think that I wouldn't need a product like this. However, we seem to lose power several times a year and I started to get really paranoid about losing power to my ShareSpace NAS device. This was listed under the support matrix for UPS devices and was nearly the least expensive. I've read more positive reviews of this on other sites, so I thought I'd give it a try.The device works very well and is very easy to install and take advantage of. It's almost plug and play. First, you plug this into the wall socket. It has six outlets, but only three of them are protected by the battery. Next, plug in any devices that you'd like protected into the protected outlets. The UPS has a USB port, which can be used to notify ONE device to safely shutdown before the battery is depleted, due to a power outage. Next, I connected the ShareSpace to the UPS via the USB cable. I loaded up the ShareSpace GUI and went into the UPS configuration screen. It took a couple of minutes for the ShareSpace to recognize the UPS and gather information such as the current battery status. It wasn't more then a month before the UPS was tested when we lost power. During this period, the UPS continously beeped, which was to notify that the battery is in use. The ShareSpace knew that it was being protected by the UPS through the status screen. The power was out for nearly 15 minutes and the ShareSpace stayed up the whole time. Once the power was restored, everything went back to normal. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with this device. And the price point is excellent! In fact, I plan on purchasing at least one more to keep a couple more devices powered up. I highly recommend this based on an excellent value and on real world experience. Plus, if you have a ShareSpace, rest assured that this will work perfectly.

Shortly after buying this product it went into overload alarm so I reduced the load accordingly connecting only my Imac and Router. On several occasiongs my Imac has shut down unexpectedly which I have now confirmed as failure of the UPS, the UPS did not switch to Battery first.I have since bought a replacement UPS and have had no further problems.

I recently purchased two of these units. BOTH of them have failed to do what they supposed to! They appeared to work when I tested them; however, in the case of an actual power outage they failed. A lightning strike caused a momentary (<2 seconds) power outage while I was working on my computer. At that point the computer stayed on through the outage. Unfortunately, within a half hour both units had turned themselves off, killing both my DVR as it was recording and my PC as it was in the middle of a very delicate database process. No warning beeps or anything indicated that there was a problem; everything seemed normal. I had to power each unit back on myself. I then used the TrippLite Power Alert Console software to check the status of each device. Both units indicated normal status with 100% battery remaining. The software's logs were void of any useful information pertaining to these events. Why did they just turn themselves off?Obviously, this problem is not limited to a single faulty device; both units failed in the same manor. I should not have bought this product. It does not even perform its most basic and critical function. Luckily, this I was able to repair my data tables and continue working. However, I am going to attempt to return these devices immediately. I think I'm going to look at a different brand as a replacement. Please don't waste your time and money on this product. Update: Apparently, the return window has closed 2 days ago for me. I can see why they have such a short window (30days); they don't want you to be able to return it when you realize you bought a $40+ brick of...

I bought this UPS and only have an iMac plugged into it. Shortly after I bought (about a couple of months) this the overload light kept coming on and shutting down. The battery didn't even work like it was supposed to. The power goes out, and so does your computer. I would avoid this unit. Yes, it's cheaper than most but you get what you pay for. Actually, in my case less than what I paid for.

This unit didn't work at all. It was completely dead and unresponsive. Frustrating. I purchased a Cyberpower in its place that seems to work great.

Not only are there basically no operating instructions included, you have to go hunt for them online, but the unit is so not-intuitive I don't know what the designers were thinking (or if they were thinking at all), and I would consider myself a techie. Besides that, I did finally get it set up to work as a backup for our TV. I double checked and tested the unit to make sure it wasn't overloaded and all seemed well, for about 24 hours. Then it turned off for no reason and continued beeping until I messed with it long enough to finally get it to stop (the instructions were no further help because it wasn't doing anything described in there). I reset it and somehow managed to get it to work again. Well 48 hours later same melt down for no reason whatsoever. That was it for me, I got rid of it and paid just a bit more money for a trusty APC unit like I have for my home office. Never had a problem since. By the way, I almost never leave negative feedback, especially this negative - this unit was the worst item I've ever bought online - EVER.

I just received this item today and it was simple to install and of a great quality. Have not had an interruption in power to really check it out, but I am sure it is going to work just fine.
