Saved all my equipment when others didn't,

Cannot recommended Tripp-Lite enough. I had this Isobar Ultra filled with computer equipment. An electrician's company fed 220 volts into two house circuits. The equipment plugged into the Tripplites were fine. The electronics plugged into a cheaper strip all fried. $3,000 worth of damage. If I had spent the money on the TrippLite I would still have my 36" HDTV, DVD, and VCR.Tripp lite's side fuse was popped and would not reset. Internally it was fried, smelled like it melted and something rattled inside. Contacted TrippLite and, no questions asked, they sent me a replacement--no fees. I had the tripplite for at least five years. The LifeTime warranty is real, don't forget that. And this unit is all metal housing. Heavy, solid, with mounting screw holes on the back. THe cable is thick and solid. It will tell you if the plug is ungrounded. The plugs are isolated to eliminate EMI noise from propigating from one plug to the next. My ultra has a modem/phone pass thru on one side. I don't see that mentioned here.

Field-Tested, Home-Trusted,
This review is from: Tripp Lite ISOBAR6ULTRA 6 Outlet Isobar Premium Surge Protector (3330 Joules) (Electronics)
The Tripp Lite Isobar Ultra first drew my attention when I went to work for a local communications company. I noticed that in every one of our offices and in almost all of our customers' businesses, equipment was plugged into one of these puppies, from the smallest they offer to the largest. I have witnessed lightning storms that have literally blown sockets out of walls, and yet the equipment plugged into the Isobar has remained intact. Granted, some of the Isobars didn't fare as well as the equipment they protected, but they did their job.
Having witnessed the quality of this product, I trust it in my own home. Everything from my computer to my entertainment center to my paper shredder is attached to an Isobar Ultra. I highly recommend it for it's quality and performance.

I have these all over my studio. Some are over 10 years old and still work. I have tens of thousands of dollars in equipment plugged into some. From strobe packs to computers, monitors and printers. They're built like the proverbial brick s__thouse and I wouldn't consider another brand. Why mess with cheapies?

I have used this model on my computer and
accessories for several years with complete satisfaction. The protection it has given me I rely on. I purchased a 2nd unit to protect my video and home theater system and I hope it performs as well as my older unit that was made in USA, as this one is made in China.

I have AT&T U-verse TV and the IPTV signal is known to be disrupted by electrical interference. This can be caused by treadmills, bad light ballasts, street lights, house lights on a timer, battery chargers, microwaves, short-wave neighbor radios, etc. The result is a pixelated picture and/or freezing of the picture frame. Your internet signal can also be affected but not as much a TV signal.
I was having major problems with my HDTV signals every evening. But I bought 2 Tripp lite Isobar Surge Protectors, plugged all my electronic equipment into them, and all my problems disappeared. Although these are a little pricey they are well worth the money and an easy fix. If you want to find out what in/outside your house is causing electrical interference walk around your house with a portable radio set to a quiet AM radio signal. You would really be surprised how many electrical devices/appliances cause interference/buzzing of the radio. Two of my HDTV cord adapters were culprits as well as my DeWalt drill battery charger. I also have an incandescent light fixture on my basement ceiling that must need rewired/replaced. It should also be noted that Tripp Lite has a great warranty on these surge protectors and say they will replace up to $50,000 of electronic equipment if damaged by a power surge. This does not include a lightening strike which nothing can stop. For added protection I had the local power company install a surge protector adapter behind my electric meter for $150. Much cheaper than a whole house electrical surge suppression system and gives me some piece of mind from really large surges. But this does not filter out interference like the Isobars. The Tripp Lite Isobars are an outstanding product and solved all my electrical interference problems. Also found Amazon had a real descent price in comparing prices online.

This isn't your wimpy power strip. This is a heavy duty, Mack truck tough, surge protector with serious specifications. For my HDTV setup I ruled out the use a computer UPS out of concern that the power might be, and probably would be, a square wave. Because of this I wanted an industrial strength surge protector. This one meets the test. I only wish it had eight outlets because I'm always adding new electronic gizmo's to my HDTV setup.

High quality construction, takes a combination of regular plugs and adapter bricks.Great price too.
Only problem is I'm now running out of outlets - should have bought the 8 outlet version!

Solid anti-surge device. Has industrial quality and feel. BUT, the wall-mount could be redesigned so that the back panel can be removed for mounting, and then the rest of the device snapped into the backing plate. As it is, you must mount wall screws and hang the device. Unfortunately, you can't get a screwdriver in there once it's mounted to sheet rock on a hollow wall, so the device tends to hang limp.

This Isobar is one piece of serious quality and warranty to stand behing its product.
Everything has worked out great but if someday (knock wood) something fails and need a replacement I know that it is not going to be a problem. tripp lite is ok.

Burst into flames!!,

Would have left the star rating empty if possible. Paid over $60.00 and it worked ok for 3 months. Then two weeks ago, one evening it just started shooting flames. Burnt and melted our heater plug (useless now), plus burnt our recliner some, too. Luckily, I smelled it before it got "out of control".
I bought an $18.00 Belkin surge protector at the same time. No problems. Works perfectly. Very disappointed with the product. What if we were gone from home and it had burst into flames...? I have zero trust in Tripp Lite's products. It might be a product flaw but I wouldn't leave it plugged in if I were you. Tripp Lite gets a "F". |
