4.0 out of 5 stars Get what you pay for
The modules are up to standard except for the collar/wedge that is supposed to hold the cable in place. It allows the cable to wriggle around and the wires come loose eventually. Had about 1 out of 10 do this. Solution, put a dab of superglue between cable and module, after crimping and testing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish
I've made hundreds of network cables in the past. I always thought that RJ45 heads were all the same. This batch is rubbish. Every cable I've made suffers from some sort of fault or short. Wiggle the cable and you lose connection. At first I though it was my crimper (which has worked for me for years) and tried another one. Nope. So in a fit of desperation, I went...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish, June 16, 2010

This review is from: Tripp Lite N031-050 Cat5e RJ45 Modular Connector, Stranded - 50 Pack (Personal Computers)
Nope. So in a fit of desperation, I went down to Home Depot last night and picked up a bag of 10 which cost me as much as this bag of 50. Snipped off the heads of the first cable giving me trouble. Put the Home Depot heads on, and it works like a charm. The remainder of this bag went in the trash, and I'll be looking for another brand/vendor. Apparently, you *do* get what you pay for. At least I didn't waste a lot of money. (Although I did waste a lot of time.) Don't make the same mistake.

Note: If I look closely at these heads compared to the ones I got from Home Depot, I can see the Home Depot "teeth" - which need to pierce the 8 strands - are much sharper and there are 3 teeth, compared to this set which are shallower and have only 2 teeth. I think this is part of the problem. They aren't making a good connection with the wire. I can't be bothered with trying to force a deeper connection, maybe jimmying something into my crimper to tighten them down even more. This crimper is good quality and has served me for years. It's not the problem here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, very sturdy, February 10, 2008
This review is from: Tripp Lite N031-050 Cat5e RJ45 Modular Connector, Stranded - 50 Pack (Personal Computers)
I bought these at the same time I bought my first crimper, so I was a bit skeptical on how the whole process worked. In the end, I found these connectors to be great. They always grasped the wire firmly and crimped on with ease. I will certainly buy these connectors in the future whenever I need to make more CAT5 cables.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Connector - Does not "CLICK-IN", October 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tripp Lite N031-050 Cat5e RJ45 Modular Connector, Stranded - 50 Pack (Personal Computers)
I am a network administrator for a medium sized non-profit. I have made thousands of Cat5e/RJ-45 terminations in my career but I must say these connector are no good. They simply don't "click-in" to the wall or device jack like they should leaving you with an easy to pull out connection. When closely compared to connectors of other brands the design flaw is obvious. The clip on the bottom of the connector is flatter than most others again causing the connector to not click into the jack. Stay away from these and save yourself the headache. I have also used these from Amazon: RJ45 CAT-5 E (8P8C) Crimp Connector solid, (100 Pcs Per Bag) which work great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too wide for most ethernet ports, January 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tripp Lite N031-050 Cat5e RJ45 Modular Connector, Stranded - 50 Pack (Personal Computers)
These plugs are slightly too wide. I tried them on several computers and found that they can't be fully inserted in about half of them, and on the other half they do seat but it's a *very* tight fit. They are also too wide to fit into the ports on a Netgear GS108 switch. Unless you want to spend time filing your connectors down, you don't want these.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure if these are really Tripp-Lite?, September 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tripp Lite N031-050 Cat5e RJ45 Modular Connector, Stranded - 50 Pack (Personal Computers)
Was sent package (repackaging from bulk, maybe?) the sticker on the bag said ROHS compliant-silly because all that's in here is copper and plastic- but theres nothing to indicate they are Tripp-Lite. 'made in china' on the bag too.

They do seem to be good quality, and I've only terminated one cable and one crossover cable so far. Theres just nothing to say these are Tripp-Lite, and the generics are slightly cheaper. I got these for my job, otherwise I wouldnt care.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty basic, but they work well., September 23, 2009

This review is from: Tripp Lite N031-050 Cat5e RJ45 Modular Connector, Stranded - 50 Pack (Personal Computers)
These are the first set of connectors I've ever purchased, so I can only compare against my exceptions. However they worked exactly as expected and easy to use. You didn't need to strip the internal wires so the only tedious part was to get the various twisted pairs lined up correctly. Finally these were much less expensive than similar items I saw in the store or on Amazon.

I'm using these after going through a box of Ideal RJ-45 connectors. These Tripp Lite connectors feel just as durable and look like they won't corrode. My big test is after I crimp a twisted pair cable end, I like to pull the tab up. So I get a click when I plug the cable terminal into an ethernet port. I've had instances in the past where the tab will break when I pull it up. So far I haven't had any Tripp Lite break on me yet. So that is saying something good about the durability.

Great quality product! Would definitely purchase again. I had a couple of connectors that the stem pin broke on but, didn't affect the purpose of the product. This may have been the result of a faulty crimping tool.
