A very basic network cable tester that does the job.

Great for testing patch cables.

Nothing fancy about it but it works well.

The good:

Light weight

rugged

slow scan option

handles RJ45 and BNC, as well as F, RJ11, and RJ12

carrying case for all the pieces

The Bad:

nothing bad really, but the pouch is skimpy with no separate pocket for the connection adapters.

Overall:

The low price on this very good quality cable tester makes it a 5 star deal.

Bought it to test LAN wiring in my home. It did its job well. Easy to use. Low price.

i bought this tester to trace the f-connector coax and rj45 Ethernet cabling in my new home, the builder had not labeled the tangled mass of cables. this tester made identifying them a breeze

Does the job. the materials for the housing are not the best though so do not drop it.

This is a good, cheap tool to help you identify and repair wiring. The plastic is a bit cheap and thin feeling, but I don't use it everyday so it doesn't bother me. This tool was my lifesaver helping track down a spaghetti mess of cat6.

I am very pleased with the Tripp Lite N044-000-R network cable tester. It does exactly what I need it to do, and, although I have just used it once, and cannot say how long it will last-I do believe that if you follow instructions, and don't plug it into any cable but a dead one....I don't think it will crater.

Also, I don't personally find it cheap junk...the case seems to be fairly sturdy, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who needs a basic tester. For the price, I don't believe you could beat it!

Out of the box the product worked fine - for about 5 weeks and 4 uses. After that the LED on two of the channels went dark. Buy something better.

This product works well when it was still working but after four uses in a month, it wouldn't switch on. I changed the battery and still the unit is dead. The product itself feels like cheap plastic, so I guess that is the reason why it easily broke down.
