Product Description

Tripp Lite enhanced IDE (EIDE) ribbon cable connects up to two internal IDE hard drives to a controller card. This internal dual Ultra DMA/ATA ribbon supports UDMA/33, ATA/66 and ATA/100. This 18-inch cable is constructed with 80 conductor ribbon and contains three 40-pin socket connectors (one for the controller card and the other two for drives). Tripp Lite warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for life.

I bought my computer in 2003. I was unaware that IDE cables come in 40- and 80-conductor varieties. They all have 40-pin connectors, but some have 40 wires and some have 80 wires between the two (or three) 40-pin connectors. I was having trouble with a new CD/DVD drive because my IDE cable was of the older 40-conductor variety. I bought this 80-conductor cable and now everything is working very well.

I got this cable to replace an old 40-conductor cable. It is currently running in my file server with a single drive. The drive is able to use UDMA100 transfer mode with this cable.

The drive ribbon works great. It solved the problem that I had with my old 80 pin ribbon not seeing the slave drive.
