5.0 out of 5 stars Works
This cable works- what can you say. I use it with a PERC6/i controller.

Clips on the SATA end ensure that the cables snap in and won't fall out.

Cable ends are straight, as you can see in the picture. Won't work in some cases (like in a PowerEdge T100) because you need right-angles due to clearances. But, it is what it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not perfect
They are a little stiff, and too short to route them out of the way. But data connection seems to work well. For the price they do the job well enough, I wasn't about to pay a lot more for some dumb cables.

Purchased this for a Dell Perc 5/I controller card and it works fine. Item seems to remain plugged in to both the controller card and the hard drives. Material and build quality seems very good. I like the 20" cable length because I will need the length with my Norco brand 4U chassis which has 20 drive bays. As another reviewer mentions, I wish the channels were labelled.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works good with Dell Perc 5/i, December 4, 2011

It works well with dell perc 5/i card I bought from e-bay, and plug the cable directly to Sata drives. This cable might be more expensive than those you find in Ebay, but those cheaper ones are not verified to be target straight cable, they are mostly crossover cable, which won't work if you connect directly to the drives.

These cable works perfectly with Perc 5/i cards. I am using these cable to raid three 2TB sata hard drives to my Perc 5/i card. These are the cheapest cables you can find on amazon to use with the perc 5/i or perc 6/i to raid your hard drives. I having been using these cable for over a month and having had any problems yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars SFF-8484 Cable Set, November 6, 2010

I purchased two of these to hookup a Dell PERC 5/i (based on LSI chips and reference design) RAID controller to a set of hot swap bays that use SATA/SAS connectors.

This is the cable you want for a RAID controller to drive (or hot swap bay that uses the same connectorization as the drives you put in it -- be mindful that many of the less expensive cables you might find on auction sites are the reverse of this and won't work).

As far as the quality of the cables, they're fine -- they have retaining clips on both ends.

My only complaint -- you think it would have killed them to label the channel??? Trial and error will show you which end is the lowest channel, and they're sequential (the previous sets I've purchased from other manufacturers have been less expensive, and had the channels labeled).

I purchased this for a Perc 5/i controller. It fits well. The cables are a good length for a mid size tower. All the connections work. The price is right. I recommend this cable and would purchase it again if needed.
