With reliable battery backup, tel/Ethernet jacks and an HID-compliant USB port, the SMART750USB offers a complete power protection solution for a wide range of home and office electronics. The SMART750USB features a split-outlet design with six total AC outlets: three to provide battery backup support and surge protection for computers, monitors and other critical components; three to provide surge protection only for peripherals such as printers and scanners that do not require battery backup.
Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)
AVR protects connected equipment from incremental hardware damage, data loss and performance problems that can be caused by low-voltage conditions, commonly known as brownouts. The SMART750USB corrects brownouts as low as 89V to a nominal 120V, providing safe, computer-grade power to all connected components, without consuming battery power needed to support equipment through blackouts.
Reliable Battery Backup
UPS battery backup support enables you to work through short power failures, and provides time to save files and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The SMART750USB features an internal battery that provides 3 min. of battery support for a full load (450 watts), 11 min. for a half-load (225 watts) or 45 min. for a basic desktop PC. During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the UPS battery fully charged so that backup power will always be available when needed.
Tel/Ethernet Surge Suppression
A sudden power surge or spike on a phone or network line can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The SMART750USB features one set of tel/Ethernet (RJ45) jacks that provide surge protection for a standard phone or network connection (cable included). Its 510-joule surge suppression rating protects connected components and data from the harmful effects of power surges.

EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering
Various electromagnetic and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and audio/video performance problems. The SMART750USB incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment.

Safe, invisible back up power supply,

This is a very easy to use back up power supply. I plugged it in to my iMac through the USB port and it was automatically set up. It runs in the background and has a long battery life.We have lots of power outages here, and the real nasty kinds where the power goes in and out for several seconds before it finally stops. I have had computer power supplies blown from these spikes. One time our house (Metal roof since we catch the water in a big water tank) took a direct hit from a lightning bolt. (The power was out for 8 hours since it was a bad electrical storm) The house was hit so strong that it blew the power fuse on the power pole. Since this strike was right on the house it was very serious, my Tripp Lite back up power supply clicked off. Unfortunately, that also turned off my computer, but when power came back up, the Tripp Lite came back to life and all my electronics where fine. Without it, they would have all been damaged for sure. Other times we have had surges and power outages where my computer didn't even notice. And since I have VoIP I also keep my cable modem and router on this back up power. So, I was able to call the power company in the dark on my phone (I have a simple phone that doesn't use an electrical outlet) then turn off my computer safely. I left the power on the cable modem and it stayed up for hours. Until another lightning strike took out something on the cable lines somewhere...

Seems to work well... no zapped computer yet. A few times on windy days it has taken over from line voltage, even when lights in the house stayed on and there appeared to be no actual change in supply. Macs recognize this unit immediately when plugged in via USB and have built-in settings for UPS in the Energy-Saver Preferences box. From there you can tell the computer what to do when the UPS takes over.

Within one week of buying this , I lost power in the house but this unit keep the PC and cable modem and VoIP phone going for 15 minutes.I have always liked TrippLite products. I have a line conditioner that I bought ten years ago to keep the voltage in line when the AC of the house kicks in. I do not use the software. I just wanted it as a reliable UPS. It worked perfect. For the price , I also bought another one for my wife's parents. One suggestion, it is not designed to handle a large laser printer. Keep that unit plugged into another outlet.
