The SU1500XL provides true on-line operation, reliable battery backup and comprehensive power management capability in a compact tower form factor. Featuring six 5-15R outlets, USB/DB9 ports and a slot for an optional SNMPWEBCARD, the SU1500XL offers a complete power protection solution for servers, storage devices, telecom systems and other mission-critical applications.

True On-Line Operation with Zero Transfer Time

The SU1500XL provides the highest level of protection available for mission-critical equipment. It actively converts raw incoming AC power to DC, then re-converts it back to regulated, filtered AC output with a pure sine wave, completely isolating connected components from all power problems. Zero transfer time between AC and battery operation maintains continuous output and further protects connected equipment from the disruptive effects of blackouts and severe low-voltage conditions. Sine wave output guarantees compatibility with all equipment types.

Controllable Load Banks

The SU1500XL'S six 5-15R outlets are arranged in two three-outlet load banks that are individually controllable via a software interface for remote reboot of locked-up equipment or load shedding to maximize battery backup time for mission-critical equipment.

Reliable, Expandable Battery Backup

UPS battery backup keeps connected equipment operational through short power failures, and provides time to save data and perform an orderly system shutdown in case of a prolonged blackout. The SU1500XL features a large internal battery set that provides 4.5 minutes of battery support for a full load (1200 watts) and 14 minutes for a half-load (600 watts). During normal operation, incoming utility power keeps the UPS battery fully charged so that backup power will always be available if needed. For mission-critical applications demanding continuous uptime, the fully scalable SU1500XL can provide expandable runtime with optional external battery packs, sold separately. Compatible battery packs: BP48V24-2U (limit 1) and BP48V60RT3U (multi-pack compatible).

AC Line and Tel/Ethernet Surge Suppression

A sudden power surge or spike can damage or destroy electronic components and wipe out irreplaceable data. The SU1500XL features a 570-joule surge suppression rating to protect connected components and data from the harmful effects of power surges. One set of tel/Ethernet (RJ45) jacks provides surge protection for a standard phone or network connection (cable not included).

EMI/RFI Line Noise Filtering

Various electrical and radio sources can cause disruptive interference on the AC line. This line noise is a common cause of incremental hardware damage, data corruption and audio/video performance problems. The SU1500XL incorporates technology that filters out disruptive line noise, preventing it from affecting your equipment.

LED Status Display and Audible Alarm

The SU1500XL features a front-panel, 14-LED display that enables IT personnel to monitor line power, on-line mode, bypass mode, on-battery, overload, battery low, replace battery and fault status information. The LEDs are supplemented by an audible alarm that signals UPS startup, power failure, low battery, overload, UPS fault and remote shutdown conditions.

USB/DB9 Ports, SNMP Capability and Included PowerAlert Software

The SU1500XL features an HID-enabled USB port and a DB9 port (cables included). Used with Tripp Lite's included PowerAlert software these communication ports provide comprehensive network power monitoring and control. Capabilities include UPS and line power status messaging (on battery, low-battery, power restored, AC line voltage, DC battery voltage and remaining battery capacity), timed inverter shutoff after unattended shutdown, and UPS output power control for delayed or immediate reboot of connected devices. The SU1500XL also accepts an optional SNMPWEBCARD accessory that enables the UPS to operate as a managed device on the network.

Tripp Lite's SmartOnline SU1500XL on-line, double conversion UPS protects critical server, networking or telecommunications equipment from blackouts, brownouts, voltage fluctuations and surges. This large-capacity 1.5kVA/1200W UPS continuously converts incoming AC to DC, then back to perfect sine wave AC output at 120V AC (+/-2%). It removes harmonic distortion, fast electrical impulses, frequency fluctuations and other hard-to-solve power problems not addressed by other UPS systems. True sine wave output and zero transfer time provide guaranteed compatibility with all equipment types. It includes 6 UPS-supported outlets. Two load banks, each with 3 outlets, can be independently controlled via a software interface to selectively reboot remote equipment or automatically shed less critical loads to extend battery runtime for the most critical equipment. I live in an area that often loses power during storms. I have a Dewalt gas power generator that I use as a backup. I have an expensive computer system and need to run it off the generator. I spoke with Dewalt technical support and they do not recommend running computes off a generator. So I need to "clean" the power line. After several days research, this was the best choice. It is a dual converter that does not bye-pass the system at any time. AC to DC, then DC back to A.C. Output, clean power. It comes with monitoring software that is very good. It can monitor the input and output frequency and voltage. The documentation recommends not using it off a generator (?), but I did not find this a problem. The software on the disk did not support Windows 7, not a problem went to their web site and down loaded the latest version that supports Windows 7. Also spoke to technical support on setting up the software. I give them the best rating for technical support. He gave me a ticket number for future support that would refer me back him if needed.

Used it for a week now, here are the results. Power company input 123.5 V, 59.8 Hz, Output 119.9 & 60 Hz. Gas Generator input 113 V & 62.1 Hz, Tripp Lite SU1500XL output 119.9 V and 61.1 Hz. The results fluctuated, but this was the worst case. Yes the dual fans are noticeable, but can live with it knowing my computer system is protected. Technical support help me set up the software that will shut down my computer if there is a total loss of power, then it will shut itself off, then when it sensors power again it will turn on and reboot the computer. (have not tested this scenario yet). Recommend this system.

This UPS works great with no problems on my generator. Definitely worth the money. I tried cheaper UPS units and they won't operate on AC power (they switch to battery) when the generator is lightly loaded and the frequency approaches 63 HZ. Thanks Tripp Lite for designing this great UPS, and I also really appreciate the professional software. And, thanks again to Amazon for the best price and fast shipping!

This is at the moment one of the most affordable, double conversion UPS available at this writing.

This product is of high quality build, and of course its performance is good as well. Output power is very clean and consistent.

Of course as with other double conversion UPS, the cooling fans on this device is rather loud, and they run at all times, even if the load is powered off, and even if the UPS is powered off. They can only be shutoff if the UPS is powered off and unplugged.

For those who plan to mod the fans there are a couple things to know first. They are standard 80mm fans. They have a proprietary pin connector and wire arrangement. The new fan RPM can't be too low or the system will detect a fault.
