5.0 out of 5 stars DF: More like Leapt Into Divine!, January 31, 2004
By
This review is from: Tripped Into Divine (Audio CD)
I heard the song Leaving Town back in 2000, and instantly hooked to Dexter Freebish. I soon purchased the CD Life of Saturdays and was instantly taken in by every track. Such a varied sound to each... but yet such fluidity to the album as a whole. The years passed, and I wondered if I'd ever again hear from Dexter Freebish, or if LOS was their one and only hurrah. Then in 2004 along comes Tripped into Divine. From the moment i heard the first single, I believed this would top LOS, and I was right. From start to finish, this is a definitive rock album.

Prozak - Killer hook. Great tune. The perfect catchy and melodic song for a first single.

Pretty People - Unique style to the song. Not the strongest lyrics on the album, but a very upbeat tune with a message.

Ghosts (Voices in my Head) - One of my personal favorites. The chorus and bridge are great, and Kyle sings really well on this song, showing off his range.

How Do I Get Through to You - This album's rock ballad... much like Wonderland, only even more passionate and effective. One of the album's three strongest tracks.

Heavy - Deep meaningful lyrics. Definitely 'heavy'!

Save Me - A decent song, but not the best on the album. Lyrically skim.

What I Need - This song kicks off with an awesome intro, and stays strong throughout. Great lyrics and a rockin riff.

Wild Things - Funky, upbeat sounding song. It stand out on the album much like the song Life of Saturdays did on the first album.

Breathe - A uplifting song with a really good tune.

No One Knows - The album's hardest rocker from start to finish. Kyle sings this song with a very convincing bitterness and downtroddeness

Twilight - The albums best track... period. Killer tune, awesome lyrics, wonderful singing by Kyle. Unbelievable song and such a standout.

Breakdown - A moody, great way to close off the album. Emotional and catchy tune.

This album is a must buy for any fan of rock and alternative music. Hopefully it will be the album which slips DF to the head of the pack, and helps people see how great of a band they really are.

5.0 out of 5 stars They've Done It Again...even better the 2nd time around!, January 23, 2004

I loved DF's first CD, "A Life of Saturdays" but this one blows it out of the water!! The three years between albums gave this band a chance to mature in their songwriting - more complex lyrics...great sounds...and thoughtful melodies.

I also like that this album has a more "real" sound to it -- it sounds less overproduced than the first one.

It's nearly impossible to pick a favorite song on the album but the lead track and first single, "Prozak", is definitely one that stays in your head.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenominal new Dexter Freebish Album, January 20, 2004

this cd is exceptionally great! every song is better than the next and you can't stop listening to it!!!! if you thought A Life of Saturdays was good, youre in for at treat! theres fast paced songs, such as "no one knows" that really rocks out and then theres the slower more melodic songs like "how do i get through to you". DF's sound is unlike any other..but if you like bands such as Sister Hazel, Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw (all band's theyve toured with) then youre sure to LOVE this cd! YOU MUST GIVE THIS A LISTEN! TELL A FRIEND! then they'll tell a friend....and they'll tell a friend....
