This review is from: Tripping in America (Paperback)
Yeah, why not bring "Charley" and "On the Road" a bit more up to date? C'mon, there's room for more than one road-writer. (W.L.H.Moon?) Sixpacks and a manual typewriter in campgrounds around the US, and not just for fun. A way of life. A vocation. Not uncommon. Just silenced is all. Break the suppression! This kind of work should be read in High Schools across the land. Like "Catcher" used to be---or still is, now that it's irrelevant. JB is a WONDERFUL writer AND publisher AND poet. He invented the "shard" genre. Not bad, for a window-washer. Yeah, one of the last living Beats, one of the toughest of that generation, who never sold out, who kept on creating and helping, is still doing windows. His tribute to Henry Miller, "Black Messiah," is a wonderful example of great publishing and of the small press scene that used to thrive here.
