Don't believe the label. It IS censored,

Despite a warning sticker on the front of the box claiming it is "uncensored", this is the exact footage shown on the sci fi channel. All the f-words are bleeped out, any time we had blurring on the screen, it's blurred here.
The only difference is you don't have the scifi logo in the bottom of the screen and no commercials. There is NO new content, and every episode IS censored.

Silly Space Smugglers,

The aptly named Choad is the captain of a band of smugglers. The rest include his reptilian nephew, a sex cyborg, a surly female something or other, and an effeminate gold robot. They roam around between the military-like federation and the empire of the Dark Clowns. Choad is not a favorite of either side and manages to keep running afoul of both.
This motley band manages to get into some very strange situations and thus manages to do some decent parodies as well as original humor. Star Trek and Star Wars are obvious targets but we also see 2001: A Space Odyssey and I, Robot taking shots. I have to say I don't know how things went from the first episode to the second. The ending of this first made it more like a one-shot. But what can you say about a series that manages to kill off G-d in the first few minutes? There are no sacred cows. Nothing is safe. Not movies, interior decorating, beauty pageants, politics, youthful rebellion, etc. Check it out.

Buady, Raunchy and just plain fun.,

This show is a lot more fun than it has the right to be. If not for CGI, and some basic (and obstructionist) rules on broadcast decency, we'd have probably seen this broad parody of sci-fi legends come and go about 20 years ago. "Tripping" follows the raunchily animated adventures of Captain Chode and his crew. An amoral, greedy and sex-hungry lout, Chode looks a lot like the Hamburger Helper guy, only purple, three-eyed and having tentacles where his fingers would be. Luckily (for the rest of us) Chode's appetites are...uh...serviced by "Six", an impossibly-proportioned fembot voiced either by Gina Gershon or Carmen Electra. (There's a classic early and un-rated "Tripping" floating around the internet in which a more apparently cybernetic Six is voiced by Terry Farrel of "Deep Space 9".) The joke about Six is that between her programming and Chode, Six is often forced to think more like a real woman than the non-androids who populate the show. Chode's nephew Whip, the repellent Harridan T'nuk, and his slightly effeminate Robot (along with the obligatory ship's chatty computer) round out the rest of crew. Arrayed against Chode is the insidious Darph Bobo - an evil clown with powers from the dark side. (The enmity between the all-powerful Darph Bobo and Chode is one of those nonsensical plot points that your brain is willing to accept after watching just five minutes of this show.) Most of the jokes are aimed at fans of "Star Wars", "Star Trek" and Howard Stern (especially comparing how much more animated Six is than anybody else on the show). The animation probably won't win any awards - looking like somebody had just used the scene-editor from "Quake 3: Arena".
So why that many stars from "The Rotten Review"? "Tripping" is still jaw-dropping fun, well paced and voiced, and gets tons of laughs out of the most obvious jokes. The leads bring surprising gusto to what would be another SW parody, especially to the jokes the writers KNOW must fall flat, proof that the scripts aren't meant to condescend to their viewers. In short, "Tripping" truly is a guilty pleasure with no shame.

I don't get cable so I bought this DVD based on the reviews and because I am a huge animation fan. I feel I got my moneys worth and plan on buying season 2 when it comes out. The computer generated animation is well done and the story lines are well written. My only complaint is that there is really nothing ground breaking or outstanding about the show.
It's good, but not great.

The long awaited, Tripping the Rift, DVD has come! The complete first season, composed of 13 episodes, and 3 disks, is a must have. There's a nice booklet included that features all the main characters. It lists a short bio on each character.
They did an excellent job on the packaging. Artwork on the disks are very nice; high quality. The set doesn't appear to be mass produced. Keep in mind, the episodes are censored; foul language is beeped. The first, great, thing I noticed is that there are no previews and the FBI warning is quick. I appreciate the fact that the menu isn't annoying. The special features, called "Extras", aren't bad, just limited. Don't expect any commentary, deleted scenes or a featurette. The extras are: A Character Gallery (worth seeing, unlike most DVD galleries), Artwork Gallery (lots of sketches) and Teleplays (DVD ROM). Unfortunately, I don't have a DVD ROM, therefore, I can't report back on those features. Maybe that's where the commentary, deleted scenes and a featurette are hidden. After my drive arrives, I'll update my review with ROM feedback. At $20.99 on Amazon.com, this DVD set is a great Christmas present at a very reasonable price.

Comic FUN !!!!! On an Adult Cosmic Scale !!!!!,

A wild imaginative ride on an adult darkly comic track!!!!!
I was surfing the amazon site for a sci-fi comedy in the animation vein, looking for a comic pulse that both myself & adult son could have a few laughs with. After scoping many amazon reviews I narrowed it down to a handfull of choices. In the end it was the cover that sold me. A Very Sexy Babe, "Six" (her name). So then we popped in the disc and rolled the dice! We struck laugh-out-loud gold!!! This won't be for everyone of course. There is a crude selfish captain, a gay robot that is in denial, a sexy and very smart "Babe" (Six), an ugly mean four legged "cow" of a bitch, a computer named Bob with a human need TO BE, a teenage masterbating lizard, all coming together in a crude adult fashion to boldly go where no rightous crew would dare contemplate (in ANY frame of mind). Although adult in the xxx sense, more like an x-rated Felix the Cat movie with smart dialog, there is an overall character to "the crew" that when taken has a whole - has "CHARACTER" in spades. Acting in ways that belie their crude foul mouth surfaces; the result is that at the end of each CONTOVERSIAL episode you'll find: We Don't Torture!, To Each His Own!(gays/lesbians)/, No Violence!, Don't take advantage of the disadvantaged!, A good living wage for all! - you get the rift. My wife was passing through the living room and was stopped COLD! She was'nt going to have it! Finially, we continued - as it had a redeeming quality. Still she refuses to watch ANY of it! So strap yourself on the launching pad and roll the dice! Prepare for a WILD laugh-out-loud COSMIC BLAST!!!/ whether you get off the pad depends largely on how much crude is in your tank. 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-(bleep)-OFF!!!! (Yes, there are a lot of bleeps.)

Tripping The Rift is definitely worth the trip. It is funny beyond belief. Sex jokes are just half of the show. Every episode is interesting and has a good plot. You get all 13 episodes plus lots of special features on 3 DVD's in a brilliantly made package with beautiful cover art. By laughter alone this beats Drawn Together or anything similar. Complete CGI (Computer Generated Images) so the visuals are stunning. Definitely worth the buy for the price.

I've read some of the other reviews of Tripping The Rift. The negative reviewers obviously don't have a sense of humor and therefore have no business reviewing Tripping The Rift. Having an open mind to all possibilities helps to appreciate this parody of the science fiction genre.
Since computer animation first started with Toy Story, I was hoping someone would come up with something like this, and even though some of the jokes make me roll my eyes, I think this is the best anyone could have come up with for this format...and I find myself laughing more than I expect (truly the gift of an open mind). I love the references to all of the science fiction TV and movies that have been embraced through the years. I was kinda scratching my head while watching "Tripping The Rift-The Movie", wondering just exactly what Desperate Housewives had to do with the science fiction genre...but other than that, I think that the creators and writers have done an excellent job in giving us a genuine and entertaining source of mindless and enjoyable escapism. If I want to sit back and relax, and just forget about reality, this is one of the places I like to go. My favorite character has to be Bobo the Clown with his no-holds-barred insanity. You never know what's gonna come from him, and whatever he does is just total crazed hilarity. Wanna escape? Wanna have a few silly laughs? Gotta open mind and a TRUE sense of humor? Sit back, relax and let yourself go where no computer animated series has gone before.....and enjoy!!!!!....just make sure the kids are in bed for the night first, because this is definitely NOT for them!

This series is hilarious, but may be offensive to some people, it is crude, rude and not for the prudes- definitely for teenagers and above. Nothing is sacred, religion, sex, body image, politics- everything eventually takes a hit from this show. So, if you're bored by the same old, same old tame tv, give this a try.
