Not bad, not great,

I really like Tripping the Rift; I have the first two seasons on DVD. Then I purchased the movie, which I was very disappointed with, so I was hoping that season three would bring me back to the fold. Unfortunately, not so much. 3 or 4 of the episodes are straight from the movie (or the movie is straight from 3 or 4 episodes depending how you look at it), so the claims of "13 ALL-NEW EPISODES" on the DVD cover doesn't ring true.
I also don't understand how they came up with the censoring of foul language. In one episode ("Raiders of the Lost Crock of $%?&*!"), they bleeped the word b*****d (but left enough in that you could tell what it was) and a couple of minutes later the word was said again but not bleeped. It seems to be a little random. I don't get why they can't put out a "grown-up" version of Tripping the Rift (i.e. rated 18 or even 16). I can handle the swearing, the crude jokes, even a little CGI nudity (the censored banners in the Raiders episode mentioned above). There are no extras with this DVD set. No outtakes, no trailers, nothing. It really seemed like it was put together quickly and released. If I hadn't seen the movie, I probably would rate this season a bit higher. I feel the movie has damaged the franchise somewhat. Who knows if there will be a fourth season. If there is, I hope they realise there are grown ups out there who watch "Tripping the Rift" and we're OK with adult content in our favourite animated shows.

If you are planning to buy Tripping the Rift:the Movie, don't bother. They cut it up and made it into individual episodes for this disc. The graphics for the character six seem to have gone down a notch. And Jenny McCarthy sounded like she just didn't care about how dull her voice sounds.

You need to be a fan to appreciate this edition, but if you are, it is really good. They do some wonderful episodes based on famous movies and write around them with the "Tripp" crew involved. Stephen Root and Maurice LaMarche, are masters of voice overs. All of the voicing is exceptional except for the sexlessness of Jenny McCarthy. Am I wrong or did she also voice HAL 9000? Since this is a DVD only release, I was surprised by the "DE-JIGGLING" of six and the language censorship. The only other things missing are Tom Kenny and Billy West. But I have to say, I popped in the DVD, and really enjoyed sitting through these episodes. I would really like to see additional filler in the future of the actors doing their voices. Seth Macfarland is doing it now, as well as Simpsons actors. The worry that seeing the actor actually doing the voice will spoil the illusion, is baloney. It is really quite entertaining to see the voice overs in action. But getting back to this edition. . get it.

This season is as funny and innovative as the rest. There's even black and white footage for contrast, in the Skankenstein episode.
The only thing I find disappointing about this season is that Six seems to have fewer bikini and nude scenes.

First off, I'm a fan of the series and own this set, as well as the previous sets & movie, and this is probably the worst of the lot. I haven't liked the character Six since Gina Gershon stopped doing the voice after season 1.
The audio is censored, and the studio didn't even give us the option to switch to an uncensored audio track. So, you're stuck w/ 2 channel censored audio, which I think makes absolutely no sense for something on DVD that is blatantly raunchy in nature. Some of the words are ones that are commonly heard on evening TV. Sure, you are able to make out some of what is said based on the context. But there are certain spots where there is a string of 5 words that are all bleeped out. There are also absolutely no extras. I think it has to do with laziness...this set seemed like they put minimal effort into it. The studio just put it out to sucker us fans into buying it and to have the entire series out on DVD. This set is for die hard fans only. Or for those of you, like me, who wanted to finish off the collection.

If you have 1 and 2 and the movie you will find this disappointing, It is noticeable lower in quality with 3 repeats from the movie. It is like they are trying to make a more money with a lot less effort. I will not by 4 if one ever gets made.

My mother and her boyfriend like the series, but they couldn't find the third season anywhere. So they turned to me, and a few clicks later, it was ordered and on its way. It arrived ahead of schedule too, which is always a plus.

I liked the first two seasons better than this one. The show lost its spark, i wouldn't recommend this to anyone but a hardcore Tripping the Rift fan...

First off, let me say that I'm a huge fan of the show & I've loved the first two seasons. When this popped up in my netflix recommendations, I jumped at the chance to watch it. After all, the first two seasons were so awesome.
Unfortunately this just isn't up to the par of the first two seasons. The jokes aren't as fresh as they used to be & while Jenny McCarthy does her best to try to fill the shoes of her predecessors, she just isn't really all that great. She lacks the warmth or energy of the previous four actresses who have voiced her. If she had been the first to voice Six then perhaps it'd be different, but after hearing Terry Farrell & Gina Gershon's voices it's hard to hear McCarthy in this role. The animation is another thing that seems to lack, but I'm not sure if that's because of the 3 years that's passed since the third season aired or because the animation quality has decreased since season 2. (I just started re-watching the previous two seasons & there is a difference in animation quality.) The set is still enjoyable enough to watch & I recommend it to fans of the previous seasons, but if you've never seen the show before then I recommend you start with the first two seasons. This wasn't bad, but it's just weak in comparison to what has come before. Oh, and if you've seen the movie then you should be aware that the movie pretty much took several episodes from this season (some of the best ones), threw some new animation in, & slapped a movie label on it. To be fair, the movie version was brought over before there were even plans to release season 3 on DVD in the states, which might have been the reason for its creation. (The movie, not the season 3 DVDs.)
