It is what HE wanted it to be,

So it's not what many of us were expecting, but it is no doubt the album he wanted to make. Being on On-U records there were no commercial pressures to make this some hi-falutin' affair. Yes, it caught me off guard too. Yes, it takes a little while to fully appreciate. But if one takes it for what it is, it's very enjoyable. There are some really stand-out tracks -- "Glorification Chant" is probably my favorite. There is alot of ambience and slow grooves, with some very beautiful melodic lines. Let's not dis it for not being what "we" wanted to hear from the man. It would be easy for Mr. Wimbish to just play fast riffs all over the place but evidently he wanted to express a different side of himself. I'm glad he did. The production of Misters Sherwood & Wimbish is clean and tight and there are numerous guests to keep it interesting throughout. It is very innovative and unique, even amidst the On-U catalogue as a whole.

Great, not the record I was expecting to hear, a little bit of funk, a lot of ambiance. Very innovative album. Doug play every bass guitar he knows with feeling a work. 5 year to do it.

Boring,

I listened to this album several times now and it's not really what I expected. Wimbish is a good bassplayer but this experimental stuff is not really great. If you like that experimental stuff Steve Vai did on guitar and you want to hear how this can be done on bass you might like this album. But if you are looking for a good album with real music on it, real stuff with a beginning and an end you won't find it on this one. I found it really disappointing, sorry for those who rated it with four or five stars.
