About the Author

Jeanne Bruce is the writing team of Jeanne (Wood) Kern, shown at Machu Picchu, and Bruce R. Held, shown petting a gray whale in San Ignacio. Jeanne is a former high school teacher, and lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, with her wonderful husband Rich and their spooky black cat, Boo Radley. Bruce lives in Texas and is a Licensed Professional Engineer working as a project manager in the petrochemicals industry.

The whale watching trip descriptions were so vivid you felt you were there. I loved the characters. This was a fun read.

From the moment Hud McGuire's huge basset hound wraps his leash around veterinarian Morgan West, it's clear that the dog's owner and the veterinarian are meant for each other.

But it takes operating on an elephant and a surprise trip to Baja California before the doctor is able to see beyond her devotion to her patients. In the meantime, a marvelous cast of characters help keep the action going as workaholic Morgan comes to grips with the fact that there may be more to life than work-or animals.

Winning characters plus a compelling storyline about gray whales off the Baja coast add up to a great read.

I rarely read romances, not because I don't like romance but because I do like substance and a good plot. Intrigued by the synopsis on the back of Jeanne Bruce's Trips and Whales and Puppy Dog Tales, and the photos of the authors in real-life exotic locales, I decided to take a chance...and thus began what would become my own vicarious adventure through the eyes of the authors and their characters. Artfully crafted, the book drew me into its story world with the first line and seamlessly transported me into the lives of the lovely and stubborn workaholic, Dr. Morgan West, and her counterpoint, the handsome engineer, Hud McGuire. And if you're thinking this is just another "boy meets girl" story, think again. Their experiences in the primitive whale-watching camp at San Ignacio literally come alive, leaving you breathless-one moment with wonder, the next with a steamy kind of passion that only skilled foreplay can evoke. Like Morgan West, I had lots of work to do when I was suddenly kidnapped and sent on a delightful and thoroughly absorbing adventure that I could not tear myself away from! I highly recommend Trips and Whales and Puppy Dog Tales to anyone who needs an instant romantic getaway!
