About the Author

Ernest R. Chander is an Indo-American Christian who was born in Punjab. He attended medical school in India and became the first director of Nurmanzil Psychiatric Center in Lucknow, India, before coming to the US. He took public health training at Johns Hopkins and a psychiatric post-doctoral fellowship at Yale. He is the founder of Carolinas Psychiatric Association Christian Counseling Clinic and lives in Gastonia, North Carolina with his wife Pushpa, an internist and anesthesiologist, and their two children.

Although tough to read at times, this book allows the reader to understand the author's points of view and experiences in India. A clear love-hate, mentor-brother relationship between KNN and the author helps the reader to consider views not usually associated with "Indians." Controversial, opinionated, passionate, and spiritual, this book is not for the weak of heart or faith. Anyone willing to leave personal or religious predudices at the proverbial door will find this book an enlightening read.

As a person who knew the Doctor directly, I would like to say that the author has done a very bad job, which includes several misquotes. Please don't buy this book for you will get a very biased view of Dr.KNN's life...he's a greater person than the author makes him out to be...
