5.0 out of 5 stars Love this juicer!
My husband and I have been using this juicer for months, almost every morning, and love it. We combine different berries, an apple and a large orange for a great, nutrious drink for two. No complaints. Don't mind that it takes a bit of time to clean the juicer after use. Our health is worth this minor inconvenience. Don't be so lazy!

3.0 out of 5 stars juices well, but clean-up is annoying
I bought this juicer for an ex-boyfriend & we used it for over two years. It does juice things fairly well. For the low price-tag, you get a pretty good quality product.

3.0 out of 5 stars juices well, but clean-up is annoying, January 17, 2010
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
I bought this juicer for an ex-boyfriend & we used it for over two years. It does juice things fairly well. For the low price-tag, you get a pretty good quality product.

(One Tip: If you have a lot of plastic grocery bags, putting one in the pulp bucket before using the juicer makes cleanup a lot easier - you can just pull it out, tie it up & toss it. Then the pulp bucket only needs a gentle rinse to clean up.)

Having used a number of other juices since, I would like to point out some of the issues that this juicer has that ultimately became a turn-off to me (and made me not-so-sad to see the juicer go away with my ex):

- It juices, but it doesn't wring out nearly all the juice - I've found both centrifuge and masticating juicers that wring more juice out.

- Clean-up is a pain in the butt - cleaning all the parts takes a lot of time. You should have a little toothbrush to get all the bits of pulp out of the little crevices.

- Getting the 'blade/grater' part out can be hard. You have to screw & unscrew it with a special tool - it took us a while to figure out how hard we should screw it in, so that it stays put & does the job, but isn't then impossible to get out to clean.

- It stained quickly (and permanently). Not a huge flaw, but still, I don't like having dirty, stained products sitting out on my kitchen counter.

Overall, for the price, it's a worthwhile purchase, especially if you're only an occasional user. If there's any possible way you can spring for something a little pricier (especially if you plan on juicing regularly), I'd highly recommend going that route.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it- the juicer is a lemon, February 13, 2010
By
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
I have the classic juicer- it was given as a gift. It was only functional for less then 2 months. The issue- and you will see this on other review websites, is that the blade is attached to the motor with a plastic threading. Turn just a bit too hard and you strip a fine curl of plastic off of the threading, the blade won't attach to the motor and and the entire unit is unusable. I can get replacements parts of new motor and new blade but at a cost of $60.00. I read multiple other negative reviews of either the same issue or of the motor going out after only a few months of use. I am better off taking my 60 bucks and applying to a different brand with proven durability. Trust me this is flagrant design flaw- it did not take much for me to destroy the threading and disable the unit. So the LaLanne juicer is lemon. I don't know what I will purchase and I am open to suggestions. I love making juice and it was OK at doing just that. But why drop a $100 or more on something that has an established history of breaking after a 2-3 months. Jack LaLanne should be ashamed of himself for peddling this drivel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack LaLanne Power Juicer CL-003AP, April 30, 2010
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
I have been using my Jack LaLanne Power Juicer (model CL-003AP) for months and it works better than my sister`s $300 juicer.

I use it 2 to 3 times during the day, and clean it once every night.

It works marvelously, and I have absolutely no complaints about it whatsoever! I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wishes to increase their daily intake of vegetables and fruits.

My favorite daily drink is made with curly kale, celery, carrots, and one or two Granny Smith apples. Then I place the juice into my blender with lots of spinach (for fiber) and a banana, and sometimes raw cashews for a super-creamy, delicious and highly nutrient-dense drink. This keeps my immune system in tip-top shape, preventing me from catching a flu, virus, or other contageous disease.

2.0 out of 5 stars just ok....., October 6, 2010
By
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
i bought this juicer about 4 years ago and used it occasionally. this worked out ok for the minimal amount of juicing that i was doing at the time.

however, recently i began juicing several times a day to increase my fruit and vegetable consumption and several factors are earning this juicer its low rating:

1) the juicer does not perform well on green leafy veggies
2) clean up is a bit of a pain and it definitely stains very easily even with immediate rinse and clean up (i don't mind either so much but just mentioning it for others to be aware of)
3) blades seem to dull over time
4) motor is not very powerful
5) not the most efficient in extracting maximum amount of juice. the fruit peel that is left is very moist.... (so it requires more fruit to get the same amount of juice compared to a more effective juicer.)
6) and most importantly, the blade sits on top of the motor so if you push a bit too hard or overload it, the motor bears the load and burns out...(i've had to replace 2 motors already)

the only positive note is the initial low price tag, however if you have to keep replacing the motor (because it will eventually burn out) you might as well get something that is going to cost a little more and save yourself the headache..

so, that being said, i am in the market for a more efficient, durable juicer (i refuse to replace the motor a 3rd time) and i am leaning toward a Breville 800JEXL. look for my review on it in a few weeks or so... :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor performance Jack LaLanne juicer, October 3, 2011
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
I had the same experience with the Jack LaLanne juicer as other owners posting reviews. The plastic threads in the motor housing connecting the strainer and blade onto the motor broke--and they broke the first time we used it. I was juicing cut up apples from our tree. The unit had been bought by a friend, and never used, so she gave it to me. I looked at replacement parts, and to buy parts, or to ship the unit for repair--well, you might as well put your money into some other juicer. And yes, I did put it together properly, carefully following the instruction booklet. When I took it apart to clean, there were all the broken white plastic bits. A total waste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack Lalaine Juicer, June 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
I bought my juicer in sept 2005 new for $99 and was thrilled to get it at that price. I have used it almost everyday since and never a problem. Finally after after almost 6 years of constant use the motor began to wear out. If I had ordered a new blade I truly think it would have lasted longer. Getting 6 years out of a hardworking appliance is wonderful and I am buying another one exactly the same.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your hard-earned cash!!!, October 23, 2010
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
I purchased my power juicer a little over 60 days ago, and it only juiced carrots well the first time I used it. From that point on I would find chunks of carrots in the pulp bin. The blade, which is a flat spinning piece of metal with small "teeth" does a very pour job of grinding anything hard like carrots, etc. If you are truly into juicing, and you're going to be juicing a lot of carrots, avoid this juicer. If you're looking for something to juice soft fruit like apples, tomatoes, etc., then it may work for you. However, and this is a big however, look for the blade's connector to break within the first 10 or so uses. The connector is a cheap piece of plastic, and if you even slightly over tighten it more than once, you might as well throw the juicer away as it will be ruined. That's what happened to me. After about 5 uses the juicer started making a loud buzzing sound, and thinking the blade wasn't tightened well enough, I started tightening it a little more. Well, now, I'm without a juicer (the warranty is only good for 60 days), and out nearly $100. Terrible, terrible product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jack LaLanne Knows His Stuff, September 28, 2010
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
I enjoy my LaLanne juicer, and someone had given me a cheapo "juiceman jr" awhile back, and it was pretty much useless. This is very well made, and I have had no problems cleaning it with my stiff dish brush. I replace my morning Diet Coke with healthy juice now, and feel so much better it is amazing. I have a few juicer books coming with lots of recipes so I know there is much more goodness to be created. I recommend this juicer over the cheaper plastic brands.
Today is the day, start eating healthy, walk a little further and JUICE, baby, JUICE :) '
