I love, love, love these glasses. I purchased them after lots of research including going out to the Schott Zwiesel website and viewing the 'break resistant' videos.

3.0 out of 5 stars tritan vs. riedel
I recently examined several Tritan wine glasses and while it's true they are much more durable than Riedel Vinum series, the glass is not clear and consistent. That is to say that if you look carefully through the glass you will see vertical waves or seams that distort the light as you look through the glass. This bothered me and I decided to purchase the Reidel again. If...

I love, love, love these glasses. I purchased them after lots of research including going out to the Schott Zwiesel website and viewing the 'break resistant' videos.

About 1 week after my purchase, I took a terrible opportunity and accidentally knocked one glass off the counter and onto it's lip and onto my kitchen floor and into about 1 million tiny, tiny pieces. I nearly cried.

So, lesson learned. Yep, they are break RESISTANT, but not unbreakable. They are still some of my favorite things.

Large but beautiful and delicate looking. Don't break easily. We have 2 sets, the first one being 2 years old, and have not broken one yet. Great glasses

Exactly what they offer, and you don't have to worry about the shiping, they were carefully packed. Good choice. I was looking for this item all over stores and online and they were the only ones who offer these with a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Durable, May 1, 2011

I purchased this set of six to add to a set that I had purchased 10 years prior. After 10 years I had finally managed to break one when it slipped out of my hand over the sink and the bowl of the glass struck the edge of a ceramic plate that was standing in the sink. Other than that one breakage these glasses had been in daily use for 10 years without a single break or chip. They have been knocked over on the dining table, knocked over on the kitchen counter, knocked off snacktrays and onto the floor without breaking. When washing they went from table to dishwasher every time and when I received this new set I compared the new to the old and I cannot tell the two apart. They look identical, no crazing, etching or marring visible on the old to distinguish them from the new.
They are elegantly lightweight to hold and ring beautifully when struck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Schott Zwiesel wine glasses are fantastic!, June 12, 2010
This review is from: Tritan Diva Claret Burgundy Wine Glasses (Set of 6) (Kitchen)
I have five (5) different types of SZ glasses both at our summer cottage and at our NC home. I regularly wash them in the dishwasher and between the two houses I have only broken 5 glasses. Two snapped at the stems while we were polishing them after coming out of the dishewasher, two cracked in the dishwasher because they were against a fold in the door and one broke when it hit our tiled floor in the cottage. I probably have a total of 200(100 in each home) of the SZ glasses and I think this is a fantastic product.

They are beautiful when they come out of the dishwasher and i quickly dry each one and check for lipstick or watermarks. They are lovely to drink wine and beer out of and set a beautiful table. I have been using them for about 8 years now. I have the Diva line and have been so pleased with them that our five children now want them instead of crystal. I just never pull out the crystal anyore.

The various shapes are wonderful for wine tastings. I will never buy another type of glassware.

I gave my husband a lot of little things for x-mas this year, and these glasses were the big hit. He love Pinot Noir, so these were perfect!!! They hold 24oz? They are bigger than most glasses I looked at. highly recommend for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy Schott's Glass!!!!!, January 16, 2008

I am a serious wine collector and have owned several sets of crystal stemware over the last 25 years. I was drawn to the Schott Z. products because they are very attractive and I was interested in the break resistent advantage.

I bought this set of 6 Pinot glasses and now 16 months later, there are just two left. These, however, faired better than the Bordeaux glasses; all 6 of them shattered. Not a single one ever hit the floor, nor did even one get toppled over. They (10 of my 12) met far gentler, but very premature, ends

My first two broke in my dishwasher - nothing ever broke in that ASKO dishwasher before. Well, at least they were together when they died - although that's not much consolation for the $30 I had invested in that pair.

So, I thought that I had no option but to wash them by hand - just as I have always done with crystal stem ware. That claimed the next 8 glasses. By now I suspect that you might formulate a mental image of me as some ham-fisted spastic who was simply too rough with them. There has not been much over the years to suggest that it is so, but perhaps it could be argued.

Also, I did not break all 8 though myself, my wife shattered a couple, our adult son, and a couple of friend all had the same experience. While rinsing them out with our bare hands under running water - they simply imploded. I am grateful that no one was hurt. Even after we were all aware that glasses had shattered in the hands of the individual who was washing them at the time, none the less, they kept shattering. Maybe one or two, but when everyone was aware and being especially cautious, they kept on breaking.

I still have complete sets of R***el crystal stem ware from up to 25 years ago. Nome of them ever shattered in my hand. I even use my dishwasher to clean their "O" stemless wine glasses without a single casualty. The only ones that broke, did so by hitting the cruel floor or being back-handed and toppling over.

Schott will be gone. They deserve to be. Do yourself a favor. Select some other stemware.
