I had a bad experience with this unit. Since this is the only unit I've owned I cannot compare to others. However, I did return this item because of the experience I had not only with the unit but with Technical support when calling to address my problems. 1) I took it hiking for the first time to become familiar with it. I couldn't see the screen at all! I live and hike in the desert. I turned the screen brightness to max and still had to create shade with two people to see the screen in the daytime, outside. 2) I downloaded a hiking map (which I cannot get my money back on and I'm really displeased with that) and loaded it onto the unit (SD card). While I was hiking the unit showed my position on the wrong side of roads (while I was on a trail about 100 yards AWAY from the road). 3) The maps claimed to have lots of POI's. Well, the visitors center at the entrance to the park was NOT on the map! Wouldn't do you much good to be lost with this thing. I have a Garmin in my car and I've been pretty happy with it. I think I'll go to them for my next outdoor experience.
