5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, versatile tool
These stands are extremely useful, I find myself using them all the time for various things around the house. They are nice because they are relatively lightweight and easily portable, yet they are also stable and very sturdy. As another reviewer mentioned they are a great complement to the heavier clamping sawhorses such as the Jawhorse or Superjaws.

3.0 out of 5 stars Triton Clamping Stand
The tripod base is very stable. The upper clamping head is kind of flimsy. There needs to be a non-scuffing surface inside the channel to protect the surface of what is being supported. That little channel with the teeth just won't do. There needs to be an actual clamping mechanism.

I was worried by the review which mentions the quality of the Chinese made stands is not up to par with the old Australian made version, but I received the Chinese version and found no issues whatsoever with their construction or quality of materials.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Multistand Not the Same, August 28, 2007

This review is from: Triton MSA200 Adjustable 25-Inch to 37-Inch Tall Pivoting Multi-Stand (Tools & Home Improvement)
Ugh... I have two multistands. The first was made in Australia and I was so impressed with this tool that I recently bought a second. Unfortunately, since my first purchase six months ago, the multistand is now made in China. The quality is not the same. While the old stand feels like MIL-SPEC, the new stand has play in the collar and the retracted height is not the same as the first, meaning that I have to use a level to get them even.

I'll probably return the second purchase and hope that Triton reconsiders. It is unfortunate because the quality of the original was top notch - like the other reviewers note. Hopefully, I can find an older multistand made in Australia.

5 stars to the original Aussie stand, 3 stars to the new PRC stand = 4 stars.

I own two Triton MSA200 Multi-Stands and they are terrific at the worksite and in the shop. In the shop the MSA200 makes an excellent table saw out-feed surface. At the worksite I used them to build a 1000 sqr foot deck as a second or third person, to safely support heavy beams and joists. They withstand the elements very well, as they do no rust or corrode.

The stand may be a touch on the pricey side but with the free shipping thru Amazon its not a bad bargain. The stand is extremely stable and versatile, the holes in the bottom of the legs make it great for anchoring in the ground with tent stakes or a piece of rebar, it does what it is intended for. I am going to order a second one. !!

Bought two of these. They are sturdy, easy to assemble and very, very handy. Just a couple of points.
1) The stands feet do have plastic caps on them, in case you are worried about it scratching a wood floor or something.
2) The 'Clamping' jaw is simply a 'U' shaped piece of metal with notches on one side. To tighten the 'jaw', you twist a knob which in turn presses the notches into whatever you are wanting to hold. It is strong (used it to hold up a door), but you better believe I put some protection on the door where the jaw was going to grab.
3) I wish they had done something different with the Head and neck/extension of the device. The neck/extension and the head are fixed together. You can't turn the head separate from the extension/neck. So if you want to pivot the head around, you have to loosen the clamp on the extension/neck, then turn it, and re-tighten the clamp. However, if you have something heavy on it, you risk loosing whatever height you had on it. Of course you can turn the whole device, which is what i usually do to prevent frickn' around with it.

All in all, I like it a great deal. Nothing's perfect, but this does the job, and I am sure it will hold up a long time.

This is a solid stand that performs well, but could be better if the height was increased: Although the legs do not lock at various angles, they can be made tight enough so you can set them at various angles to increase the advertised height, but be careful). The other minor con was assembly. Inserting the jaws into the stand proved difficult because of the screws: They did not easily go into the holes.
