Working with Lumberloc fasteners on 3/4" batu (an Indonesian hardwood similar to ipe) wore my Porter Cable 555 model out. The collet holding the cutter head shattered in the middle of the latest deck, and I needed a quick replacement that could take a beating. At 9 amps and just over 100 bucks this is definitely the tool for the job. It is powerful and nicely balanced. My Porter cable had a tendency to want to spin out of the cut in this very dense wood and I had to be careful where my hand was while holding the board. Of course, this tool being new, the blade is very sharp right now, but it doesn't exhibit any tendency to walk away.

Having said all of that, If I were assembling cabinets, trim, or furniture pieces that required precise fence adjustments I don't think this is the tool for that. It's pretty long, and the fence system is a little rough. The new porter Cable 557 or the Dewalt model are likely better choices, though if you want to stay in this price range then look at the Ryobi model.

I'm definitely not a construction expert, but this joiner worked very well for 800+ cuts on a recent deck project. The price was great too. The only downside was a non-functioning dust bag.

It is a well built biscuit jointer and has plenty of power. I would recomend this product,and it was a great price. Thanks a bunch

The price was right for a really good biscuit joiner. Just have to clamp your work down good and you're in business. It's a little on the noisy side though.

Working with this tool I made a little mistake witch was to change the cutting hight of the machine in the middle of the job... Ho boys that was a big mistake, it was impossible to got back to my original cutting set-up. The adjustment hight of this machine is terrible and totally inaccurate. It screwed-up all my work and I had to do it again from scratch ... Typical cheap Chinese tool, not worth the saving at all. put another $70 and get the Porter-Cable 557

Nice piece of equipment. One small piece for adjustment clamp missing. I will machine one. Easier than trying to get replacement.

This item is a very well designed and manufactured tool. The quality is surprising at this price point.

I bought this for my friends wife who wanted a good bisquit jointer and knew nothing about them. After having tried one of the economy models I personaly couldn't recommend one of those. After looking at the specs
and prices this is what I selected, I hope it does a good job for him, it
looks like it will.
