5.0 out of 5 stars whoa nelly! this band rocks!, February 1, 2005
This review is from: With Triumph Comes Loss (Audio CD)
this band sounds like a combination of carnal forge and pantera. the album is as tight as a tupperware seal and is T&A throughout. there are some slow parts but the band speeds up to almost hyperspeed on all 11 songs. i recommend this to any metal fan, even if you haven't listened to unearth, bleeding through, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars missing link, January 12, 2007

Cataract, I believe, is the missing link between death metal and thrash. They sound alot like Carnal Forge and Hatesphere(the singer lends his vocals on one song)A very good album. I don't recall how I heard of this band, I think I was on the Metal Blade Records website and their e-card came up, this was like 3 or 4 years ago. I really liked the cover art and the title of the CD. "With Triumph Comes Loss" is Cataract's 3rd blistering effort to reach my ears and I love every second of it. All of the songs are sweet, but the standouts are "Killing Tool," "Vanished in the Dark," "Godevil," and "Reborn From Fire." Listening to this CD makes me want to punch people in the face and it is a very good listen to put onto the good ol' MP3 player to take with you to the gym. If you are reading this, you probably already know about Cataract, so buy the CD without question.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Hardcore Moment, November 19, 2004
This review is from: With Triumph Comes Loss (Audio CD)
Most people probably don't know about this band, and they should. In your face brutal music is a definition of Cataract. There in nothing new here from what I can hear, but what's wrong with adding an album that you will know you'll love? If you like Bleeding Through, Unearth, Diecast, Throwdown, or even In Flames, pick these guys up.

5.0 out of 5 stars In your face, February 7, 2005
This review is from: With Triumph Comes Loss (Audio CD)
This album is heavy and in your face right from the begining. The songs are heavy fast and catchy. They sound similar to carnal forge. A must for your collection

5.0 out of 5 stars Brutal metalcore from Europe, November 28, 2004
This review is from: With Triumph Comes Loss (Audio CD)
If you are someone who hate the current metalcore/nu-hardcore scene you are probably only familiar with the bands MTV is trying to shove down everyone's throats. Bands like Atreyu, As I Lay Dying, Avenged Sevenfold, Bleeding Through, Eighteen Visions, and Everytime I die are all horrible bands that are un-talented and totally trendy. Those bands are all fashion-core and they will be gone just as quick as they got here. Now, a band like Cataract is an honest metalcore act from Europe that expresses pure brutality, mixing tough guy hardcore with melodic metal, but these guys never mess around with any emo nonsense or whiny melodic singing. These guys go for the throat and totally dominate. If you are a fan of Slayer or Hatebreed, or basically any true heavy music then check these guys out. Those fashion-core bands will come and go but the true core bands will keep rocking the underground for years to come. Stay true.
