The Triumph of Internationalism,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Triumph of Internationalism: Franklin D. Roosevelt and a World in Crisis, 1933-1941 (Issues in the History of American Foreign Relations) (Paperback)
I was impressed with Amazon's prompt response and delivery of my book order to Australia, especially given that I did not carry out an express purchase. I was also surprised that Amazon had in stock copies of most of David Schmitz' work. The book came in immaculate condition with no bends, boxed and sealed in plastic.
I first stumbled across Mr Schmitz' through a footnote in Noam Chomsky's book entitled Deterring Democracy. In my understanding, Schmitz was one of the first scholarly authors to publish a detailed account of controversial US foreign policies during the Cold War. What I like about Schmitz is that he obliterates the fictional left/right divide of the Republican/Democrat parties in the US. He is just as critical of the left as he is the right. Like Chomsky, he also uses archival data for most of his positions on the US, as opposed to assumptions and media bias. Well done Amazon for making much of this work available. I also strongly recommend Amazon to anyone, as opposed to a lot of local book shops that don't have near the stock of Amazon, and often a far longer waiting period for orders. |
