I bought this DVD for the other movie on the disc, "The Cold Room". I first saw "The Cold Room" in the 1980's on HBO. It is from a novel about a girl, Carla, who is in a boarding school in England and she travels to East Germany to be with her father who is a writer and divorced from her mother, now deceased. Soon after she arrives at the hotel where they will be living while he researches for his book. Carla starts having strange experiences. In the 1930's and 1940's a girl named Christa lived in the same room and Christa's father was a butcher in a shop next to the hotel. Carla starts reliving snippets of Christa's life. If you want to know how it ends, read the book or get the movie.

I did also see the "Arch of Triumph" but I did not like it. It is about a doctor living in Paris, just after WWII. He runs into one of his torturers from the war and is having flashbacks. This film is a remake from an older film.

The films themselves are worth seeing, but NOT on this third rate edition. Both the video and audio transfers are really abysmal. My guess is that they stuffed two movies on the one DVD by using a really high level of compression. This is even more evident in the audio portion - there is a continual hollow metallic sound which is really annoying and also makes the dialog harder to follow.
