4.0 out of 5 stars trivia time
A fun twist to an old game. If you like trivia games this is a new way to play. It is fun to get more people involved rather than wait for a turn. Can include young and old players with the team aspect.

This is the worst game I have ever bought. I will start by saying that I have always been a huge trivial pursuit fan. Every year at Christmas my family and I sit around in the evenings and play TP. After the last release of TP which I thought was an ingenious twist (having six different difficulty levels) I was excited to see what the makers of TP had come up with this year. What I found was a total rip off. The number one problem with this game is that it CAN ONLY BE PLAYED TWELVE TIMES PERIOD (unless you like asking the same question twice) and each game that you play is short we finished the whole game in 5 hours of play. The second problem is that the game is chalked full of errors. Including: the last supper was not painted by DaVinci (which it was) and that Bach was born in 1865 (actually 1685). The premise of this game is a good one, having several different types of questions but this was a poor execution. This is a clear example of what happens when a company tries to churn out new versions of a game each year to make a quick buck. Also the questions in this version are very easy. This new version is clearly aimed at bringing in the are you smarter than a fourth grader sect of America. Not what I had come to expect from Hasbro.

Sincerely,
Disappointed in NC.

This game is really fun, we played with two people on each team. There are 12 sets of question cards that come with the game. Each set is considered a "game" and each "game" has four rounds. You lay the cards out at the beginning of each round and teams take turns choosing categories that are on the cards. The way you answer is different, for example there are multiple choice questions, and true or false, or name 6, where you have 6 guesses to name something specific. It is a very fun game, the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because you can only play the game 12 times before you're all out of questions. But it's still fun, and super funny to watch the other team argue over what answer to give when you know the correct answer :) The game board is different, too. Smaller and comes with a black and a white pie that you move in a circle, and whoever is ahead at the end of the 4th round wins.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun!, December 16, 2010

I bought this game a few weeks ago, and it has quickly become a family favorite. I have always loved trivia, but hated Trivial Pursuit because I never liked the luck aspect of rolling the dice and having to get pies. This version throws a bunch of different styles of trivia question - almost like a game show - and rewards intelligence, albeit some questions are simpler than others. It's true, you can only play 12 times without repeating, but how often does one play the average board game? I mean, at the price, it's a great value for the fun had. One critic rated the item poorly and said they finished the whole game in five hours - well, they must either be exaggerating or be the fastest players on the planet, because the three times I've played it so far have taken a little over an hour each. This game is fun, different, and I cannot wait to play again. They also provide you with blank cards to make an additional round, and I'm sure expansion packs are on the way. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5. One more thing: I found the one I bought at Target who had it on clearance for $4 and change.

I don't believe this is anywhere near as bad as some reviewers have implied. In fact, overall, it's funner for people that typically don't like trivia games, but hardcore competitive "brainiac"-types may hate it.

There are only 12 packets of questions, meaning that you can only play it 12 times before the questions repeat. That's the big downside. If you could buy more sets of questions for a fair price, I would give it a full 5 stars. As it stands, that works out to about $1.25 per game. A pittance for the amount of fun this provides, assuming you're not a trivia whiz or incredibly dumb/cheap. Some questions are surprisingly easy, but most are at least a little challenging and allow you (and your team) to at least make an educated guess to get SOME points.

It plays more like a game show between 2 teams. There are 4 rounds and 6 questions per round so each team will be asked a total of 12 questions per game unless someone gets around the board early. A team can advance up to 6 spaces per question. The goal is the advance as far around the board in those 4 rounds. Very different from the usual format.

There are also many diffeent question types:
a) 5 true/false... if you miss one, you lose all your accumulated points; if you get all 5 you get a bonus point. You can also stop and simply walk away with all the points you have
b) name 6... for example, maybe it's asking to name 6 football teams (out of 8) in the NFC West and East. You only get 6 guesses and 1 point for each correct one
c) easy/hard... the easy is worth only 3, the hard is worth the full 6; and sometimes the easy is actually harder than the expert question
d) 3 questions... each correct answer is worth 2 points
e) multiple choice... pick from 4 choices. Getting it on your first guess nets 6, the second guess gets you 3 points, and the third guess is 1 point. The questions here are often difficult, but it's pretty tough to pick the wrong answer 3 times in a row. It's pretty humiliating when it happens, though.
f) choose an expert - one teammate can answer by themselves for 6 (with no help or hints) or the team can collaborate for only 3. With small teams, we almost always went for 6 unless way ahead.

Each round the cards start face-down so you only know the category, but not the question type or (of course) the question and answer.

We played girls versus boys (2 on 2) and the ladies, who normally hate trivia games and get bored pretty quickly, had a blast and it was very competitive. Ordinarily, there's no way I would expect to play that much Trivia Pursuit in such a short period of time but the format is truly fun. Sometimes a topic that seems really hard and everyone avoided ends up being a multiple choice question that anyone can get points on and other times what might seem like a slam dunk is actually pretty hard.

If you could buy 20 more sets of questions for a reasonable price, I think they'd have a winning formula here.

Team trivial Pursuit is a great game for the family or friends. You break off into 2 teams and answer questions. We loved the game the only issue I have is that there are 12 sets of cards which limits your replaying the game to about 12 times. Other than that great game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pale imitation of the original, January 3, 2011
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Trivial Pursuit Team (Toy)
I love the original Trivial Pursuit, but often have trouble finding people who want to play it with me, one major reason being that it takes too long. So when I saw this game, I was hopeful it would be, as they say, a funner, faster version of the original. Unfortuately I found it to be a pale imitation.

CONS:
-For one thing, unless you like repeat questions, you can only play 12 times. The game comes with 12 individually wrapped packs of questions each of which contain all the qeustions needed for a single game. I assume there are refill packs sold?? But having to buy refill packs after already shelling out $40 for a game seems not cool.
-I found I missed the challenge of having to answer a question in each category. The game is won on a point system. Players get to pick their categories, but there's no requirement to answer in each category, so I guess it just lost some of it's "well-rounded-ness" to me.
-There seemed to be an abundance of pop culture questions.
-I only played once so I didn't notice this personally, but I've read other reviews that said they found several mistakes in the answers.

PROS:
-Some of the twists on the original are fun, such as the addition of categories like true/false, choosing between a hard or easy version of a category for more or fewer points, or getting points per correct answer you can come up with for a category (ie Teams that won a World Series during the 1990s). The variety and the ability to give more or less clue information can make it more accessible and enjoyable for younger players.
-The question cards are loaded into a plastic card-dispenser the size of a deck of playing cards that dispenses cards with a flick of the thumb. This makes the game fairly portable, which could be fun on car trips. The game does come with a small board, but it's not really needed if you just keep track of points on paper.

Overall, if you're a Trivial Pursuit purist, this version will not be satisfying, but if you're a casual player just looking for an occasional quick fun time with friends, it might work for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trivial Pursuit Team game, January 21, 2012

We were looking for a more user friendly Trivia Pursuit game that could be played with all ages and still be competitive. Trivia Pursuit Team made you think but had questions that were not as difficult as other versions of this game. It was also nice to form teams so that you could discuss the questions prior to answering. I would recommend recommend this game and give it a 4 star.

My friends and I always get together and play TP and when i bought this edition "Bet You Know It" well it was great fun. However once you've played a couple of times the questions start to repeat!!!!!! Really a waste of money overall if you can't buy additional cards for the game. Other TP games i own have to sets of cards, this one only brings one!!!! What's the deal with that!!!!

Don't spend you money!!!

It was a lot better than I imagined. I love the variety of questions, the speed in which one game can be played, and the interaction it engenders between teams.
