Book Description

December 1, 1994
This book presents seven keys to lessen or prevent prejudice. These keys are based on social psychology and are presented in a fantasy form. Two US citizens - a woman named Story and a very contentious trial lawyer named Lien - are transported to the Land of Triversity (LOT) where they learn the seven keys. These lessons are taught to them by the citizens of LOT, many of which are animals. These lessons are taught using rhyme and dance and fun. Before Story and Lien arrived in LOT, the citizens had experienced very difficult times because the different groups were fighting with each other. Citizens of LOT were able to move on to living together in true community, partially by learning the keys. In addition to the keys, the citizens also present other topics and skills helpful to living in harmony, such as mediation.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"A tale to beat bias. Critters give keys to halt prejudice. . . . Although 'Triversity Fantasy' is serious, it's also fun. There's magic: Lien arrives in Triversity via a bubble bath, animals talk (often making better sense than humans). There's music: Tobit the chimpanzee plays calming tunes before each key is explained. There's hope: An enlightened woman named Piper Pintada describes a tolerant world where shades of grey are celebrated and honored. . . . Anyone who reads Allen's fantasy senses optimism. According to Bev the cow: "I promise you that if you learn the keys and other matters simply at the level we have presented them . . . you will have all the pieces you need to interact in a profoundly different way with others." -- The Modesto Bee, January 17, 1995

This review is from: Triversity Fantasy Seven Keys To Unlock Prejudice (Paperback)
This book tackles the tough subjects of conflict and prejudicein a charming and spirited way. The characters grapple with realproblems inherent in a diverse world through "serious" reflection, dancing, singing and a joyous embrace of what makes us unique. The "seven keys" are right on target. Warning: these insights will come back to you, sometimes in the middle of your own argument. They may spoil a good rant, and they'll certainly help pave the way to better relations in the personal and business arenas.
