"I can't believe I'm writing this, but...",

This review is from: The Mystery of the Antique Doll (Trixie Belden Series) (Hardcover)
Of all of the 39 Trixie Belden mysteries, I believe this is my second least favorite. (Of note, I would not even have been able to provide a "least favorite" prior to reading volumes 35 through 39.) This particular book seemed to lack the typical spark, energy, and intrigue associated with the first 34 volumes. Furthermore, the plot development was somewhat poor. I highly recommend the first part of the series, but - based on the merit of this book alone - would not be able to comfortably recommend this volume to a friend, booklover, or most especially to a true Trixe Belden fan. Its three stars are based only on the fact that it is part of the Trixie Belden series. However, I truly feel it is a poor representation of this beloved series. Had Trixie's name not been associated with it, I would have given it (maybe) a one and one-half rating. Other than completing my collection, it did not provide the satisfaction one would expect from so much time and money spent at the auction block. And I sure didn't have that "warm fuzzy" excited fulfillment I usually feel when reading one of the Trixie Belden books! Instead, I felt very disappointed and somewhat disgusted with this particular ghost-writer for besmirching the series. As much as I would like to see a continuation of this series, I am glad the publishing company stopped it when it did rather than to proceed with such lackluster productions. It almost hurts to give this book such a poor review, but I'd rather Trixie fans not be disappointed and/or disillusioned without first knowing what they're getting into. Furthermore, and perhaps even more importantly, I would hate for this to be the first and/or only Trixie Belden book a person were to read, for then he/she might base his/her opinion on it and, unfortunately, forgo the joyful experience typically associated with this wonderful series.

I love antique dolls, so when i saw this book in the library at my school, i immediatly fell in love with it. The book was very exciting, and the end was very suprising and in a way funny! i adore Trixie Belden, and this is just one of many fine Trixie Books!
