The Legend of a Pirate, August 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Trixie Belden Mystery of the Ghostly Galleon (Audio Cassette)
This is a fun Trixie Belden mystery. The gang heads off to a "pirate" inn run by Miss Trask's brother. However, strange things start to happen with the appearance of a glowing, ghostly ship and the disappearance of their host and his cash. The gang must sift the real clues from the numerous red herrings to save the inn and figure out a two-century-old mystery.
The characters are again wonderful, and Kenny keeps the plot moving. However, the relationship between Trixie and Mart is odd here: Mart's jokes / taunts are downright cruel, yet no one seems to stop him, including the Belden parents. Perhaps this is simply reemphasized by Trixie's unusual emotional fragility (she seems to burst into tears at the slightest provocation).
But, on the whole, this book is a fun mystery and a fun read.
