About the Author

Gordon Cameron earned his degree in Physics at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He has 25 years engineering experience in both research and development and high volume manufacturing in the semiconductor industry working in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and the United States. He has published many technical papers on plasma etching systems used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices. His main focus has been on technical problem solving and troubleshooting. During his 16 years with Intel Corporation, he taught numerous TRIZ classes to engineers and has successfully applied TRIZ to many technical problems. Elected President of the Arizona TRIZ Association in 2007 Gordon has pursued the further development and application of TRIZ as well as other approaches to creative problem solving.

Gordon Cameron is a Physics graduate of the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He has 25 years engineering experience in both R&D and high volume manufacturing in the semiconductor industry, working in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States. He has published many technical papers on plasma etch systems used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices. As a principal engineer, his main focus has been on technical problem solving and troubleshooting. It was his role to solve engineering problems when engineers were "stumped" or showed no signs of making progress. Sometimes teams of engineers had been working on a problem for months, or a solution was needed urgently to keep production going; in every case the problem was solved quickly and without fuss using the systematic problem solving and creative thinking tools described in his books. His systematic methods are based on a career of applied repeated practical success in an intensive "hands on" engineering environment rather than simply only being a theorist. During his 20 years with INTEL Corporation, he taught numerous problem-solving and TRIZ classes to engineers. Elected President of the Arizona TRIZ Association in 2007, Gordon has pursued the further development and application of TRIZ and other approaches to systematic creative problem solving.

As a non-scientist new to TRIZ, I was concerned that Trizics would be too advanced and convoluted to understand. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I found it to be accessible and understandable. It contains numerous step-by-step logical examples and illustrations. I recommend it to anyone interested in the topic.

Great book, extremely comprehensive. No one else has produced a book this in depth across such a large body of knowledge in the domain of TRIZ, (Russian acronym for the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) a very informative and useful book. I also noted that has also many very informed, and learned contributors who have really helped to make this a really strong reference book, let alone text book for teaching and learning this inventive methodology.

It does justice to many areas of TRIZ that just aren't covered in the depth I have found elsewhere. In reviewing this book I really enjoyed the templates that showed the flow of where and when to use the different tools, again not something that I've seen covered in other TRIZ books in such an easy to use format. I really liked the flow chart, the TRIZICS roadmap, it is better than any other TRIZ tool use roadmap that I've seen publicly presented.
No other book on TRIZ does this to near the degree that you'll find in this book. The descriptions that Mr. Cameron has put in here really add granularity where it is needed in a comprehensive and useful manner.

I can't recommend this book high enough to instructors, teachers, students, whether they be a beginner or advanced.

I am so glad there is someone out there like Gordon Cameron. This book is brain food of the highest level and should be considered the sole truly applicable problem solving method using TRIZ. Sorry other TRIZ authors, but you lose.

I know what you're asking, you want to know what's in it for you, right? I delayed bothering with TRIZ many times in the past because no one could really explain it. So, if you want to learn TRIZ or want to learn new ways to think about it, you'll get what you're looking for right here. TRIZICS has almost 400 pages packed top to bottom with mental challenges. You could read this book every day for a year and never stop learning new things. And since the only way to figure this stuff out is to use it, you might also have a very productive year.

Of course, TRIZ is a pretty complicated system. I really don't get the impression that many people, scholastic or professional, really know how to explain and implement it. And while TRIZICS explains it well and teaches you how to implement it, you still have to think a lot and try it out a lot in order to really learn anything at all.

Is it worth it? As TRIZICS is a extremely comprehensive problem solving method that makes complicated things possible (although not necessarily less complicated) I would say yes, and recommend you buy and use this book. The information is great and the design of that information is great also, which seems lost on anyone else who tries to explain this stuff. TRIZICS is the only book you'll ever need on TRIZ, so get it already!

I had learned through experience that TRIZ was difficult to learn. Some of it's concepts were difficult to grasp and prone to be implemented incorrectly.

This book was a revelation - it made the subject straightforward, logical and readable. It presents a clear explaination of the various tools of TRIZ and where they might be applied.

Even though it is essentially a technical problem solving process, I could not recommend this highly enough to non-technical people involved in routine, day-to-day problem solving as part of their job. A technical background is not needed to understand and apply the techniques in full, as they are explained in such a clear, logical manner.

While I haven't read every page of the book, I can say because, of my experience with the subject, that Gordon Cameron has written an excellent comprehensive treatment of TRIZ. The book covers the spectrum of the TRIZ tools starting with the basics of solving contradictions to more sophisticated tools such as substance field analysis and ARIZ. I would recommend reading this book to those just learning the subject as well as more advanced users.

This book is the best TRIZ book that I have read.

When I started to learn about TRIZ, it was so difficult to understand which tool apply for a specific situation. However, Cameron Gordon made an extraordinary job because he organized the TRIZ tools and non-TRIZ tools in a way that you can select the right tools for a specific problem or situation.

For the experienced TRIZ users, they will found so interesting because TRIZICS is part of the evolution of the TRIZ tool.

This book is highly recommended.
