5.0 out of 5 stars Cool Illustrations, October 21, 2010
This review is from: Skye the Troll and Other Fairy Tales for Children (Paperback)
I bought this book mostly because I'm a fan of the polyphony DVD that it's based on. I was not disappointed. There are illustrations on every page with many two page spreads, and with numerous artists contributing, nothing gets repetitive.

The fairy tales are beautifully written and I feel that the illustrations really make it come alive and will excite the imagination of the younger reader. Skies has created a poetic universe for children to become enchanted by, definitely recommended.

Apryls writing has been born in a flurry of color, music and magic. An imagination and creativity which absolutely soars. Skye is

the child of this imagination and she is ~ glorious.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine addition to children's fiction collections, highly recommended, January 22, 2011
This review is from: Skye the Troll and Other Fairy Tales for Children (Paperback)
Being the prettiest troll has its challenges. "Skye the Troll & Other Fairy Tales for Children" is a unique tale from Apryl Skies, telling of Skye, a troll cursed with no hunch, no warts, and no smell and a pretty face, nothing a troll would want to do with. She finds her own place, and Skies tells other stories as well and makes for an entertaining and fun pick for youthful readers. "Skye the Troll" is a fine addition to children's fiction collections, highly recommended.

Awesome book! The illustrations are great! While it's really hard to find a book my son 5 & daughter 8 equally enjoy my kids adore this book because there are fun, silly characters and over a dozen stories/poems to choose from. I like that the language of the book challenges young readers a little too, without being over the top... the word "ominous" is used & my son sounded it out while we were reading at bedtime and asked me about the word & now he's using it..."Mom that cloud looks a little ominous!" LOL. The stories all have a great message to relay without being too serious. Tons of fun for both girls and boys. I love to give books for kids during the holidays so I think I will pick up a few copies for gifts.Polyphony - Be You And Accept Me Too!

5.0 out of 5 stars More fun than a garden full of gnomes, March 7, 2011
This review is from: Skye the Troll and Other Fairy Tales for Children (Paperback)
Loved it. My little seven yr old cousin can't stop reading this book. She now knows most of these by heart and it has an anti-bullying message. Very inspiring collection of poetry for children and adults. Its not just fluff, the book has heart and actually teaches valuable lessons such as acceptance, having a postive outlook on the world and healthy self esteem. Embracing the things that make us different and showing that even a bad day can still offer unexpected beauty and while this is a difficult concept to explain to young children Apryl Skies tells it through the perspective of a sad little daisy. Adorable & Highly recommended! Can't wait to see Skye the troll in clay animation!
