Alan Raph and Bucky Milam have written three of the funniest books about trombone, brass instruments and orchestras (called, strangely enough, "Le" Trombone, "Le" Brass and "Le" Orchestra). What makes these books so funny is that they're total exaggerations and yet TOTALLY true.
Just a sample from "Le" Brass: Trombones are the anchor of the orchestra. They hold it back. And on flugelhorns: Of course, there are players who would try to overplay a flugelhorn- just as there are cowboys who would spur a cow. And my all-time favorite: Q: Should I use a metronome? A: Metronomes are expensive. If you have a good sense of meter, you won't need a metronome. If you have a bad sense of meter, it will only confuse you. Use it by all means if you must.
These guys make fun of everyone, so you can't accuse them of bias. These books are just great!

By the way, the best trumpet joke I ever heard was told to me by a trumpet player. Q: Why are trombones bigger than trumpets?
A: They're not. Trumpet players' heads are just bigger.

This book: "Le" Trombone, are one of those idems that I'm glad to get, because I'm a trombonest myself, and it's just great to have something that represents myself into humor.

This is a clever, comic spoof on all things related to playing trombone. For trombonists who enjoy a good laugh.

Front cover had a rip and a sticky black residue on it. I was able to wash it off, but 'very good' condition is not how we received the book.
