I had the pleasure of hearing Troy Andrews play at Donnas in New Orleans. That made me go and get this album the very next day. Troy Andrews aka Trombone Shorty is a master; he makes the trumpet and trombone talk. The album has a good mix of old and new (written by himself) and plays tribute to his grandfather Jessie Hill with Ooh Poo Pah Doo. Definitely one to watch for the future and will one day rival Leroy Jones and Harry Connick Jnr.

Trombone Shorty is an exceptional musician. A graduate of NOCCA|Riverfront in New Orleans where he was already releasing albums before his graduation. A wonderful jazz player and young man. If you like raw jazz you will love this CD. His live performaces spur people to get the CD, when infact the CD makes you want to see his live performance. This CD is worth the money for sure!

For fans of Trombone Shorty or of New Orleans jazz, this is a worthwhile pickup. I don't know how young he was when this was released (definitely young), but even here his instrumental talent is apparent. Fair warning: the vocal elements and mixing of genres that characterize his subsequent studio albums aren't really present on this album; this is straight-up jazz.

If that's what you're looking for, you won't find a better modern trombonist.

One of New Orleans' finest musical geniuses! Even at an early age, Troy's brilliance shines through. A must have for Trombone Shorty fans.

Early Shorty! Very Latin in feel. With a touch of Herbie Hancockish grooves!!! How do you say "Lassez les BonsTemps Rouler" in Spanish?
