Amazon.com Review
The remarkable eye-fooling effects of trompe l'oeil painting can fully encompass entire rooms, but they can be equally stunning--and much easier to achieve--when applied to individual home décor items.
Trompe L'oeil: Techniques & Projects by Jan Lee Johnson provides the necessary background and detailed step-by-step instructions to enable even the novice to convincingly portray stone, lace, grisaille, marble, fabric, and still-life scenes featuring realistic-looking imitation postcards, flower arrangements, and accessory-filled shelves. Try out the techniques on trays, plaques, cupboards, tabletops, and small wall areas; there's even a cool-looking toilet seat sporting an intricate faux mosaic design. Several of the 10 projects require a more experienced hand, but confident newcomers should be able to handle the easier ones after some practice and with Johnson's skillful guidance. Templates are included for all the design motifs.
