The album encompasses two of Edvard Griegs' opuses. Opus 40 and opus 63. Both are very Romantic

in style of composition. They be can be playful folk inspired melodic arangements, or more solemn

artistic compliments of the natural world that Edvard Grieg lived in. I think in some of these I heard

tidbits of something Bach might play. Maybe it's just me. Anyway's, it also includes Folk Suites by

Emilia Amper, and Gjermund Larsen. Two compostions I liked were, Abelvaer, and Till farmor.

I thought Abelvaer had great use of timing. And that the instruments were playing semi independently

at one point from each other. (Around 3:00 minutes) Like each was expressing similar train of thought,

yet separate in timing and melody that leads into a crescendo of unity, and harmony to those thoughts.

And as for Till farmor. Well although short, I appreciated the smoothly flowing sounds that pull's

emotion back and forth from mournfulness to a hopeful feeling. Like watching the waves of the ocean come

in and go away. Overall, it's really good. I recommend it!

All of these 2L, Norwegian, Blu ray pure audio disk sound great. The Performances are top notch and the recording quality is virtually perfect. There aren't very many Blu ray pure audio disks available yet but I hope more record companies will join the lead of 2L. If you are a fan of SACD's and DVD-A, these are yet a step up in resolution offering 24 bit / 192k in 5.1 surround and stereo. Try the Divertimenti also from this group. I would also suggest the 2L sampler with 19 of their artist's albums in high res format. Very exciting for audiophiles!

We've been amassing a collection of SACDs, but this is our first Profile 3 (a.k.a. audio-only) Blu-ray. It's superb. And it is as easy to plan as an SACD (on our Oppo anyway)--just hit play. No on-screen menus required. (The second Profile 3 we bought requires on-screen navigation, but not this one.) It would be nice if this format takes off, because the sound quality seems as good as SACD, and a lot more people own Blu-ray players than SACD players. Highly recommended!
