5.0 out of 5 stars This mouse might just surprise you....., September 11, 2009
This review is from: Trooper Mvp Laser Mouse Slv/bk (Personal Computers)
Just to give you some background on myself. About a month ago my Logitech G7 cordless laser mouse started to die. The little recharge batteries are no longer holding much of a charge. Ive been basically pretty happy with it, its not the most comfortable but it was always convenient without a cord to mess with. I also have some slight carpel tunnel in my mouse hand. My hand fatigues pretty easy now a days (years as a hardcore pc gamer have taken their toll) but the G7 never seemed that uncomfortable for me. I also palm mice, I am not a claw gripper.

I went down to my local Frys electronics and purchased a few different mice with the intention of finding the right one for me, corded or not.

Here is what I bought:

Logitech G9x
Logitech 518 gaming mouse (optical)
Microsoft Intellimouse explorer 3.0
Microsoft Sidewinder gaming mouse
Wolf King Trooper MVP

I am not going to review each mouse in detail but here is what I decided for each mouse.
G9x -expensive, seems to want to be claw gripped, uncomfortable as heck for palm gripper, nice software, very accurate mouse

518 -just like my G7 shape wise, not a terrible mouse but not great either, pretty average, dpi buttons in horrible place, wheel feels flimsy to click, good software

MS Intellmouse 3.0 - Had one of these back in the late 90's, pretty comfortable, software is not that good, mouse is very un-accurate and sluggish compared to laser mice

MS Sidewinder GM - Not bad, could not decide if I wanted to palm it or claw it. Grew uncomfortable after a few hours, software is so-so. Buttons feel weak.

Wolf King Trooper MVP :

Ok, here is the review of this mouse.

I bought it for 60 bucks from frys, so it was comparable to most of the other mice except the G9x which was 100 bucks. Hands down this mouse was the most comfortable for palm grip. It has a nice little shelf to rest your thumb on which helps immensely. Also the 2 thumb buttons are in the most logical position Ive seen on a mouse, they overlap a little at different heights and this makes it easy to use both without hitting both of them at the same time.

I honestly did not know what to expect from this mouse. It looks like it has a similar shape to the G7 and that is basically why I purchased it. It has a nice solid feel and the buttons all seem very mechanical and heavy, but are quite responsive and easy to use. The wheel feels really good and is easy enough to click but not mushy and most importantly my hand did not seem to get tired after a few hours in WOW. Also the MVP has 3 dpi settings at 800, 1600, 2400 and uses some name brand laser which is better than the regular trooper mouse. I did not know any of this when I purchased it but the dip setting work good, and is very easy to use in day to day mousing. I have been using 800 on my desktop and 1600 in WOW and in RTS games. I do not really use the 2400 dpi as that setting with all mice is just to sensitive for me.

Overall I have taken back all the mice except the Trooper MVP. I will keep this one until my order from Amazon comes in with my new mouse for a much better price than Fry's.

If your in the market for a serious gaming mouse, give this one a serious look as it can be clawed or palmed and is very good quality for a 30-40 dollar mouse.
