Kazoo not get better than this!,
By WG Sinclair (Maryburgh, Scotland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trophy 701 Metal Kazoo (Toy)
This Kazoo it fantastic,it has that classic kazoo sound but not too harsh like the plastic ones and not as oaky as the wooden ones. I've owned many kazoos in my life time but nothing can compare to the clean, crisp sound of this baby!
During evenings and weekends I sometimes like to invite my neighbours, family and friends round for a shin dig, everytime I get my kazoo out the party starts a swingin'! Everyone's favourite is 'He's Got the Whole World in His Arms', another popular song I like to play on it is Tom Jones' 'What's New Pussy Cat'; that always goes down a treat. One of my personal favourites which I like to play on my Classic Metal Kazoo is the theme from The Sweeney, whenever I'm feeling glum the sound of that song always cheers me up good and proper! At and amazing measurement 4.75 inches this is the ideal instrument for the travelling musician who can't afford too much weight in his luggage, it's also ideal for sneaking into dinner parties, job interviews and other social events, it's a wonderful sight to see peoples faces when the kazoo is suddenly blasting out a pop song or two, they love it! Being made of metal you may think it would be heavy but, incredibly, it's not! it is surprisingly light weight and its streamline design ensures that it fits snugly in your pocket allowing for discreet portability. Costing an amazing $2.45 this is execellent value for money! But I wouldn't recommend it for beginners, this only for intermediate - advanced player only. I award this product five stars and a WG Sinclair BIG double thumbs up!

Of the several hundred metal and plastic kazoos I've sampled in the past few months (not counting the fifteen wood ones and the one made out of some kind of undefinable alloy), I find this 4.75" classic metal kazoo to be the standard bearer. Really, no one has ever improved on its basic design, whether it's hitting the high notes, or diverting the spit out of the slot to prevent excess condensation in the shaft. Just like no one has improved the bicycle, wheel, or toothbrush in the past hundred years (except for lighter bike frames, more durable wheels, and the better bristles that really get underneath the gums), no one can ever top the classic kazoo for creating mellifluous, gleeful, and beautiful pan-like tunes.

The resonator cap is tight initially, it does unscrew.
The 701 isn't the buzziest kazoo I own and I like that. The tone more serious and not as bright as a Hohner giving it a better range of sounds. You can make it buzz if you like or get a more relaxed hum as well. The build is durable and it should last you many years of playing(no one expects that you will but who knows).

This is a great Instrument. I ordered it on the 4th and got it on time no shipping problems. however the resonator breaks very easy and is not that good. But you can replace the resonator, bye unscrewing the resonator cap but it is screwed on tight. Turn it to the right (This is not a type-o) If the bigger hole if facing you. You can trace the resonator with a marker or something then you can cut it out and put it in. That is what I had to do because it only held up 32 minutes. Amazing sound. Way better then though plastic ones they gave out at school much smoother sound.

I ordered 22 Kazoos for my third grade class. After the initial warning to keep the membrane dry or it won't work, there were no problems. One kid thought his didn't work, but it was operator error--he wasn't humming, but was just blowing. They had so much fun. We played everything from traditional kids' songs to Credence Clearwater Revival. It was a great end-of-year activity that motivated them to stay on task, or they wouldn't be able to play the kazoo. They got to take them home the last day of school. I think kazoos are fun at any age, and will probably buy them again for next year's class.

Great sound but poor build,

This kazoo provides a classic robust sound and has an overall "kazooness" that I really like. However, the resonators develop holes and tears far too easily. I had a bunch of these and many only held up to 20-60 minutes of aggressive playing. And unlike the kazoos I remember from my youth, you can't unscrew the bell and put in a new resonator (or a piece of wax paper). So if you like this kazoo, plan on buying a bunch of them. I'm still searching for one that is more durable yet doesn't sound too thin or too much like the kazoutists voice.

I bought this kazoo and two cheaper Honer plastic kazoo. The plastic ones sound so much better that I am thinking about returning this, despite the small money involved, just out of disappointment. It is that bad.
The membrane is barely responsive and the attempts to sing in this thing are just frustrating. Instead of being fun it just makes you look ridiculous and feel tired.

I got this for our toddlers. It's taken a little practice for them to get the hang of it, but they really enjoy it. They like to say "kazoo" as much as actually play it. It doesn't seem very durable, and I put it out of their reach when it's not music time. Still, they get a lot of enjoyment out of it, which makes it worth the low price.

As I write this review my throat is hoarse from playing kazoo for several hours. I wouldn't buy this for a kid, it would be extremely annoying as I probably was to my fiancée.
It does not come with instructions on how to play. You may find yourself blowing in and not getting a sound. I had to look it up on the internet. You apparently how to hum a high pitched hum and you'll a get your humming on an even more annoying level. If you need a kazoo (the word need is used loosely here) get this one, if you're thinking about buying one yourself do it, if you are thinking about buying it for your son, give this considerable thought. This is one of those toys that will invariably make you miserable while making your kid ecstatic.

It looks cheap, feels cheap, sounds good. Can't complain about the first 2 when you get it for 3 bucks. Sound is better than I expected.
