This review is from: The Trophy Wife (Paperback)
The "Trophy Wife" is another banger from Ashley and Jaquavis. Kalil is a young man fresh out of jail and he is on a mission to do the right thing. The right thing means taking care of his little girl Jada and working an honest 9-5 job for some shady Italians. Kalil is used to hustling and balling out of control with unlimited cash, but to stay out of jail for his daughter he will do the right thing...for a little while at least.
When Kalil meets the lovely London, Jada's dance teacher, he is immediately drawn to this beautiful woman. Kalil soon learns that London's husband is abusing her and she has the bruises to prove it. Kalil and London fall in love, and London knows she is playing with fire. London wants to feel real love and not like someone's property or punching bag. London and Kalil begin an affair and this sets off a chain of events that will change there lives forever!!!

Very Enjoyable,
By Tangerine (IL) - See all my reviews

Ashley & Jaquavis has brought us avid readers another fabulous read. This is a story of London who is trapped in a lifeless and abusive marriage. Nowhere too go and no one too turn to, until she meets Kalil. He makes her feel like that beautiful flower that she is and shows her how if feels to be loved. Will she get up enough courage and do what she gotta do to find true happiness?
Trophy Wife is very fast paced from beginning to end. I was very impressed how the authors place themselves within the story. The storyline was phenomenal and the characters were believable. I just wanted to save London myself from her dilemma that she or no woman should go through. Kalil was the cool cat, trying to do the right thing and take care of his responsiblities. Ashley & Jaquavis are amongst my favorite authors. I've been a fan since the beginning with there first novel "Dirty Money", they have yet to disappoint. There style of writing is out of this world. They are both making it do what it do in the literary world. Keep those good novels coming.

Trophy's Wife Predictable Ending,
By babyprincess06 (thebigapple) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trophy Wife (Paperback)
Trophy Wife, by Ashley & JaQuavis was an intense on the edge book but as all their books, they're starting to become predictable & redundant.I just knew when Destiny was put in rehab she would have something to do with the ending. I understand A&J have lived the street life as they say but we as readers need something different in my opinion.I thought the story was about London but it was more about Kalil.I think the editors need to do better bc this the second synopsis that I have read that had nothing to do with the storyline.A&J you have a fan here please come with more.

This book will leave you crying and asking why. All Kalil wants to do is provide for his daughter and baby's mother. But after he came home from doing four years in jail, he finds his baby's mother cheating on him with his rival. After that he tries to get back on his feet. He doesnt want to get back in the drug game, but working a 9 to 5 isnt his thing. When he finds out that his rival has been touching his eight year old daughter, the old him comes back. Then when he took his child away from her mom he has to start taking care of her. While he is doing that he meets London, his daughter's dance teacher. She was being abused at home, and when he tries to take her away from that he finds out that the person who is abusing her is the same person that helped him get to the top. Then when the guy finds out what is going on, all hell breaks lose.

Well...Okay,
By Dawn Chambray (Michigan, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trophy Wife (Paperback)
The book was creative because the authors put themselves in the story. This somewhat makes the reader think the story is true, but there is really no mystery. It is easy to figure out who London's husband is just by paying attention, even before it is announced. A couple of things did not make any sense though. The first was when Kalil and Quinn confronted Fatboy's goon and he had a large black bag. Both men needed money and were dead broke. So now the goon has been smoked and they didn't look in that bag?! Doesn't make any sense. What happened to it? The other one is London! Allegedly her husband has her living like a prisoner. She has no papers, social security number, etc. to prove she exists. She even said her "husband" did not allow her to get a driver's license. Well then how in the heck are you driving around in a drop top Lexus that you call your own?! It was overall an entertaining read even with the inconsistencies, but the plot could use some work.

Good Read,
By krichie (New York) - See all my reviews

This would have been a 4 star read for me, but about half way through the book I figured out what the ending would be, so it took a bit of the suspense out of it for me. The story was good, and entertaining, but it did have a little something different from these writers other books, in that the Kalil was actually trying to change his life and leave the drug came behind. This was a welcomed change from the usual hustlers mentality. As usual everyone dies in the end, but I really would have liked Kalil to have survived because you couldn't help but to love him.

London's bridges falling down...,
By Mekz (Bahamas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trophy Wife (Paperback)
The Trophy Wife is the story of London and how her 'bridge' was looking to fall entil she met Kalil, a hustler trying to walk the straight and narrow and do better for his lil girl, Jada after doing some time in the pen. London and Kalil find themselves wrapped up in a world-wind love affair but London's bridges...along with Kalil's promise to his daughter, soon come crashing down when a link between the two lovers gets revealed. I love the way A&J put themselves in this book; it wasn't cocky at all. They fit in very well to the story and even add suspense because they are just as eager to see how everything pans out in the end. But you got to keep your eyes glued and mouth held wide for a dish of revenge which we all know tastes best served cold. Hold on to your seats as Kalil retells (and we relive) the story of a beautiful trophy wife.
Overall The Trophy Wife was a real good read. A&J really did their thing in this one. It wasnt really a fast read from the jump, but when it was down to the wire the ish really hit the fan and the ending just seemed to slap me in the face. I give it 4.5 stars; half star off for the rushed ending (you guys got to stop slapping us readers in the face with these dead-fast endings). It just happened so fast I really couldn't believe what was going on, but readers have come to know this style from A&J, especially the killing off of characters we just didn't expect to get chopped (that's in this book too, by the way).

Ashley & Jaquavis DID IT AGAIN!,

Ashley and Jaquavis
Trophy Wife **** Trophy Wife is a really good tale about London, a woman that was sold to her rich yet abusive husband by her father who owed him lots of money. She has the seemingly perfect life; rich husband, mansion, expensive cars, and all the jewels money can buy. When she meets an ex-con and drug dealer, Kalil, things go from bad to worst. There's a race against time as London try to leave her husband, Jake and live a life with Kalil and his daughter Jada. Jake, aka Hova, who unknowingly was Kalil's supplier, ordered his disciples to kill his wife, her secret lover, and his child. In the end, there's only one person left standing and that's Hova who decided to give his life to God and no longer go by the street name he'd given himself, Hova. He was ready to marry a woman he met and live his life with her free from the demons of his past. The lady he has fell in love with turns out to be the one and only Destiny. Destiny is the mother of Jada and was happy to kill Jake in revenge for Kalil. I give Trophy Wife only 4 stars because it is supposedly about London but was mainly told from Kalil's point of view. I would've like to hear more from London. All in all, the book was wonderful!
