4.0 out of 5 stars Resting comfortably!
...I ordered this hammock in early June. When it arrived..., I found it to be exactly as described on Amazon. No, it's not the most luxurious hammock in the world, but then I didn't expect it to be, based on its price. It is plenty big for my 6' 2" length. A caution here: Before judging your hammock as too small, it is necessary to mount it and lay in it for a while,...

1.0 out of 5 stars too short
I saw another reviewer had the same problem I had with this hammock. I received it and hung it from two trees. The longest I could get the body of it was about 5 feet long. I returned the hammock and am scrambling at the last minute to find a Father's day gift. I see some good reviews, but beware that you may get a 5 foot hammock. If you order, be willing to pay...

If you order, be willing to pay return shipping, mine cost ---, as you may not get a hammock long enough for an adult to rest in.

...I ordered this hammock in early June. When it arrived..., I found it to be exactly as described on Amazon. No, it's not the most luxurious hammock in the world, but then I didn't expect it to be, based on its price. It is plenty big for my 6' 2" length. A caution here: Before judging your hammock as too small, it is necessary to mount it and lay in it for a while, giving it a chance to stretch. Sure, out of the box, it'll be much shorter and might appear to be too small. Let it stretch!

The hammock includes a metal ring on each end, as expected. Mounting instructions were not included with the product. All I had to purchase was a couple of 2.5" screw eyes and two "S" hooks. A person with trees more than about 11 feet apart would also need to purchase a length of chain. My only recommendation would be to ensure the screw eyes, hooks, and chain have a rating sufficient to hold whatever amount of weight you intend to rest in the hammock. Don't try saving 25 cents on 1.5" screw eyes or you'll risk finding yourself on the ground with a sore rear end (or worse!).

Purchase this product and enjoy lazy livin'!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for this dad, May 21, 2001

My kids got me this hammock for my birthday and I love it! The quality of the hammock is great and looks like it will last for years to come. The hardwood spreader bars really give it stability even when my two little ones are jumping around in the hammock with me. The size of this hammock is great. I've seen some hammocks that are just too small (I'm a big guy, 6'3") but this hammock is big enough for me and my wife. When I first pulled it out of the box it looked too small and I was a little concerned but when I laid in it for the first time it stretched out and was perfect. Thanks kids!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tropic Island PC-14 Rope Hammock, July 17, 2001

This hammock is great! It can fit 2 adults and 1 child. It is very comortable. We put it in between 2 trees. It is a very shady spot during the day, so we sometimes take a nap or read out there. So far in all of the time that we have had this hammock we have never flipped over or even came close. Even when we push each other very hard we still don't come close to flipping. The youngest child(6 months) has enjoyed it too. You can sit or lie on it! I think that this hammock is great! Now I know why it is bought by many people!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, May 21, 2001

This is a great hammock, I paid $69.99 for the identical hammock at a local patio shop. I wish I would have checked on Amazon first. Nothing beats laying in this hammock on a nice sunny day and letting the worries of the world gently rock away. The quality of this hammock is great, hand woven 100% cotton rope, macrame`d ring knots, and wood spreader bars that add stability. The other thing that I love is the size. I am 6'5" and there is plenty of room for me and my girlfriend. The only thing that you will have to do is go to your local hardware store to buy the hanging hardware because it is not included. Have fun and relax!

1.0 out of 5 stars Smaller than listed - don't buy it!, May 16, 2001
By
This review is from: Tropic Island PC-14 Rope Hammock (Lawn & Patio)
This product is not the same as what is listed. The product description states that it is 60"x 84" and is 13'long. We tried to stretch it with no luck. Fully stretched out flat we measured it as 57" x 67" and 11' in total legnth. That makes the body just over 5.5' long - way too small. We're sending it back.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Really Cheap Hammock - Not Recommended, June 21, 2001

I tried this hammock and sent it back. ...I found the hammock to be coarsely constructed. The webbing is thick cotton cord (almost rope) that presses into the skin. The main support cords were not of uniform length, so the hammock did not hang straight (although not a problem when you lay in it.) The spreader bars are varnished hardwood, but of some cheap tropical hardwood and very low quality fit and finish. The cotton cord will show dirt very quickly. Perhaps okay if you want a really cheap hammock, as that is what this is. ....

While we have owned more expensive rope hammocks in the past, this definitely is a good value for the money. More than adequate in size for comfortably snuggling two under the stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, but watch out!, May 17, 2001
By
This review is from: Tropic Island PC-14 Rope Hammock (Lawn & Patio)
We purchased our original hammock from the home shopping network and loved this hammock for the first summer we owned it. The fall came, then the winter rolled in and we had forgotten to bring the hammock inside. So when we went in the backyard one spring morning, we realized the thick cords had been eaten away by the squirrels. Nervy, huh? Yes folks, they destroyed the whole thing -and may have ingested the cord too, but who knows. We know that we enjoyed the hammock - both for its style and comfort. And we will be purchasing this identical one again - but next winter we will be taking that sucker inside and storing it where it will be protected from those scavengers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and relaxing product, June 12, 2001

I have a PC-14 Tropical Island hammock, and I thought it was a little too short, when I first took it out of the box; but all I had to do was to stretch it between my trees, and lay in it for a few minutes....the hammock is made of handwoven stretchy cotton rope, and it indeed stretched to about 13 feet.. I am a big fan of hammocks, and I can tell you that any rope hammock will stretch, but you have to use it first (lay in it and fall asleep). You can also buy some chain from a hardware store for a few bucks, and use it, until your hammock stretches to the desired length. Have fun relaxing in your hammock.
