Product Description

Tropic isle's living jamaican black castor oil is a rich, light brown oil which is processed the old fashioned way by roasting the castor bean. Jamaican black castor oil origin can be traced back to ethiopia, africa. It's believed that this natural castor oil originally came to jamaica from slaves taken from africa. Jamaican elders didn't waste any time in discovering the various uses for this oil. Black castor oil is a great addition to any hair or skincare regimen. This castor oil can be use as is or add to your favorite hair products.

Because of this product, I no longer use Minoxidil or Latisse!!! A MUST-buy for your hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes! Yes, Eyelashes!! This gem of an oil is our #1 best kept beauty secret ladies! (And gentlemen, of course) Let me tell you the 3 major ways this oil has changed my life.

1) Hair: Female hairloss is a family trait that I have been blessed with. I have very fine hair to begin with, and it started thinning in my late 20's. I used Minoxidil for the last 2 years to help with this. It's very expensive for daily use and really trashes the exisiting hair you have, especially if it's longer. It did not help me to regrow any hair, but it did stop more from falling out. About 2 months ago I learned about this product and immidiately noticed a difference. Withing a couple of weeks my hair was fuller, and I had regrowth! I'm talking about new hair, growing fast, and the condition of the length of my hair improved so much! At bedtime, I use an eyedropper and massage a few drops into my scalp every night. It's amazing!

2) Eyebrows: In my teens I tweezed my eyebrows to practically nothing. Then when I decided to grow them out in my 20's they grew back patchy and I still had to draw and fill them in. I thought I would have to do this for the rest of my life, but I thought since I had such great success using the oil on my hair, maybe, just maybe it could help my brows. And I was blown away! My eyebrows started growing back after about a week of using this daily. After 1 month, they are almost to where they were before I went tweezer crazy (and that was over 15 years ago!) They are so much fuller and the bald patches are filling in nicely. I no longer have to "draw" them in, just simply groom and define them. For me, this is amazing.

I purchased this product to help regrow my temple hair, which was ripped out by tight, weave-enhanced cornrows. When I say ripped out, I mean ripped out -- folicles and all, to the point that it was just shiny skin. I put this stuff on it maybe three times a week and in two weeks I had a reasonable amount of hair there, and in four weeks the hair was the length it was pre-cornrows. Maybe it as my natural hair growth cycle, I don't know. But I had my temple hair ripped out by weave six years ago and it took two months for it to grow back. So I'm going to give this black castor oil the credit.

I bought this product because I thought it was the best option with helping my hair to grow around the edges and temple. After using this product for about two months, I have not seen any hair growth in these areas at all. However, I wrap my hair every night so some of the oil that I put on my edges gets on the rest of my hair. Since using this product, my hair has noticeably grown in length! My mom, husband, and co-workers have all commented on how my hair has grown in just a short time, so for that reason, I am impressed with this product! As for my edges, my mom has been using emu oil on hers for around the same amount of time that I have been using the castor oil, and her edges look so much better! So I have been using the emu oil on my edges for about two weeks and already I have noticed that my hair is starting to grow back! Plus, I like the texture of the emu oil better. So my new regimen is that I put the emu oil on my edges and brush just a little bit of the castor oil through the rest of my hair, concentrating on the ends, and then I wrap it. This is just how it has worked for me and maybe this can help those who haven't had as much luck as others using the castor oil to treat the hair loss around the temple/edges.

There are a few things I want to clear up about this product. I used the whole bottle last year and am done with it. I switched to coconut oil to try something different but I would like to start using another JBCO castor oil on my hair. I didn't have any bad experiences with this when using it. But I see a LOT of people on here saying how it causes severe itching, head aches, shedding etc. The severe itching comes from when you put too much on your scalp. I made the mistake of doing that one day. Putting too much JBCO on my scalp and hair and let me tell you it was itching so bad that week until I washed it out. Once I washed it out there was no more itching. Then I started using it twice a week and not putting so much in such a little time on my hair and scalp and no itching. People also say it causes headaches. Again you are probably using too much and that is another side effect of putting too much JBCO on your hair and scalp in such a short time period. I see some people saying they put it on 4-6 times a week. I would say you should put this on at least 2-3 times a week. It's not going to make it grow any faster by putting too much on it. And yes this stuff is very thick and greasy. So you really only want to put a little on your hair unless you like that mucky feel and look. As for shedding I never experienced that either. Again putting too much on your hair could be causing it to shed. And lastly the smell. I had heard people saying how the smell of this stuff is overwhelming but when I got it and sniffed it I actually couldn't smell anything. Now when I started using it down then I could smell it and it smelled like ashes. But to me it wasn't a bad smell or overwhelming. But what do you expect to happen when you look at the ingredients in this.Read more ›
