I loved this book. To me, it's the pure essence of green building. The book is divided by house, not by chapters, and covers the hows, whats, and whys behind the materials and styles the designers/architects decided to use. It made me think, and more importantly, it helped me understand why they did what they did with the materials available to them. I loved the the author explained the benefits of materials and site selection chosen. There are quite a few photographs to illustrate each case study - all of them beautiful. A great design book, with the added bonus of being a little trip around the tropics for the reader. I know I'll go through it again and again.

I particularly like the integration of well-designed buildings and settings here, having long been a fan of lush tropical gardens and the options they present for creating a total environment and also, having done such projects previously, such books provide many ideas for different sites and settings.
